Fate was a cruel mistress, and it spared no one from either the cruelty of its hand or mercy it could give. That very day was such a day, that history would be changed by the actions of two. One, who was consumed by jealousy and hatred for his eldest brother and could not let go of the darkness that consumed him. And the other, who above all else would do anything for those she cherished and loved with all her might. Their actions would lead to a very changed story for generations beyond to know.

Sarabi could not believe or wished to ever believe what she had seen. She knew that Scar was not a lion who was talked of highly, nor a lion would did not love his brother as siblings should love another. But all of those thoughts of doubt and hoping for the best of Scar were dashed at that very moment. He had killed him. He HAD killed Mufasa in cold blood! Her husband, the father of her beloved child, her king! And the bastard just smiled such a smug grin at what he had done. The warm tears of both anguish and rage rolled down her face as the emotions took over compared to logic.

"Y-you! How could you??" You... you...! MURDERER!" Sarabi let out in a guttural growl as the tears continued to stream down and stained her pelt. The shock and horror in Scar's face went almost unnoticed before the sorrow-filled queen lunged at him without a thought. Scar's grip upon the stone beneath him loosened as he too now fell in the same direction that he made his brother fall to his death in cold blood. The gorge claimed the lives of two that day. The life of a King who was beloved yet was killed in the jealousy of his own brother, and the life of the jealous one who was scarred both inside and out by the darkness he couldn't escape.

But if anyone mortal would have known. The actions of the now widowed Queen would cause the events that would have happened before to change. Instead of the prince running away and consumed by guilt due to his uncle's twisted words, he would now be the one to remain with those he cherished. Instead of endearing the death of her husband and supposed death of her son and years under the scarred lion, the queen all though widowed would have her son to guide and love alongside those who would help to bring them all out of the tragedy that had happened in such a twist of fate.

But that is a story for another day, isn't it?
