Description
Ilmgal'vol Alan'ma moved to settled beside Nymefein as scout and ninja hunkered in the natural alcove, watching the kobold thrall make its way down to the shady markets below. The thing shifted about from one foot to another as it stood off to the side, still within sight of its watchers' keen eyes, as it seemed to be looking for someone. “Any sign of the target yet?” Ilm whispered so hushed that the fabric of his mask barely fluttered. The scout shook his head.'I see women down there but most assuredly ones that are indeed female, not some fool imposter,' he signed to the other male, glancing back to the ninja. 'They are too easily barking at their males and slaves.' The look in the other drow's eyes showed the wry expression on his face beneath all the layers of covering cloth well enough that Nymefein did not need to see beneath them to guess it. After all both men were male drow. They knew the sharp authority of females all too well. “You are quite certain of your work?” the scout whispered to his companion. Ilmgal'vol shrugged.
“As well as I can be,” he replied cryptically. “You?”
“As well as I can be,” Nym repeated, adopting a wry grin on his pouty lips. One that turned into a slight sneer. 'I guess he will find out, won't he?' he spoke, switching back to silent sign. That elicited a dark, quiet chuckle from the ninja beside him. Indeed it would. If the two failed in their proper production and selection of poisons it would be up to this Shyntana to discover. For better or worse. It wasn't as if they were leaving much a way to track things back to themselves in any case.
Ilm leaned out to peek around the wall he was huddled against, and after a moment the man lifted one hand to point towards a particular individual sifting through the crowds. Nym narrowed his cream eyes and leaned forwards slightly. He shook his head and then lifted his own hand to push the ninja's wrist until he was pointing at a different person. The female was small and her hair was cut odd. Short on the top and sweeping into a long tail behind. She walked with an almost ridiculous haughty air. And she was positively petite. Even knowing the supposed description of the target, the scout huffed.
“That one?” Ilmgal'vol scoffed. The two men had snorted at the notion of a male trying to masquerade as a female from the first they'd heard of it. Especially one of the build described. It seemed like suicide, and an insult. But at the sight of the whip of a drow, the ninja wrinkled his nose. He shrunk back behind the wall and Nym turned to glance at the man from out of his peripheral even as he kept his eyes on the happenings below. For though Ilm was as much an ally as anyone, the scout knew he could use this moment to seize opportunity and leave his corpse rotting where few would find it if he wasn't wary of a dagger in the back. But at the moment it seemed the ninja's irritation was not with the male beside him.
“He's puny, I agree,” Nymefein spoke carefully. He shook his head. Most drow women were larger than the men. He and his companion were flukes in their own rights...both were rather sturdy for drow, especially men. Though by the description sent to him, this male was doing a decent job at playing his role. “Mm...” he frowned, eying the fake-female as she came to stand near the kobold as it rushed to squawk at her, so eager to carry out its task. “The hairier, larger spiders tend to be the less deadly with their poisons...”
“Yes, but the smaller ones are that much easier to step on,” Ilm countered coolly.
Nymefein sneered at the notion.
The two watched the proceedings as the kobold waved its hands about, escorting the female to one side of the busy crowds before eagerly offering out its package. The pouch looked drab and nondescript. On purpose. They saw the faux-female take it up warily and peek inside, inclining one brow. And how the dark elf peered around as if looking for the slave's master. The little reptilian humanoid disappeared back into the crowds and waited some time for the female to leave once more. After all the scheduled meeting had been arranged to look as inconspicuous as possible for both parties. At last, the thing clambered its way back up towards the two men huddling in wait. Nym dipped his hand into a pouch at his side, pulling out a smaller sack. As the kobold came up to them it bobbed its head and spread its hands as best as the loose shackles upon it allowed.
“Did as told, did as told!” he chimed in a mixture of elation and desperation. “Now you give promise? Yes? Yes?” Nym frowned at its yipping, narrowing his cream eyes before snorting and tossing the bag at its feet. The fodder scooped it up, pulling out one of the coins within.
“Guess you're free,” Ilm murmured from behind his mask as the ninja settled back onto his haunches.
The kobold squeaked and lift one hand to gnaw at the coin it'd plucked from the bag to test its credit. When the metal didn't give, it chirped once more and started to bob its head as it danced from foot to foot. But then the thing's beady eyes widened and it gasped. Its frail little chest inflated and deflated in rapid breaths as it began to choke, clawing at its throat in distress. Foam appeared around its teeth. “You...you....you cheat....” the thing spat as it pawed the air at the two men watching with mild amusement in their gazes.
“We're drow,” Nymefein replied coolly, flashing a cruel grin. The thrall's eyes bulged as if realizing its fatal flaw.
“But...did...as....told.....” it wheezed, toppling over and beginning to flail. The scout nodded.
“Good...else we'd have to make this more merciless.”
Though the gods knew what that might be as the two dark elves simply waited the prolonged minutes for the body to at last quit twitching before the ninja shifted to shuffle the coin back into the bag with the toe of his boot and draw the string closed once more. “Guess we know at least one of the poisons works.”
Within the sack given to Shyntana were several different flasks, vials, and small containers of various different poisons. Namely the more common ones such as roach paste, drow poison itself, and underdark blight to a couple more rare drafts such as psychotropic rot and ithillid mindscorch. Not that any of them were labeled. Or that the kobold, lovingly deemed “Fred”, had told the ninja just where he'd gotten them from. After all, “we're drow”.
I swear I can never remember Ilm's full name @.@...I had to find JJ's D&D characters to look it up lol...I'm always thinking Ilmphaedrul or something o.O...wonder if that's part of the crazy wizard's name that we're with....eh...
this one was fun to draw and write about as well ^^ I'd known exactly from the start what I wanted to do with it. Though I did forget some of the details of what JJ and I were discussing one night on just what Ilm and Nym would think of Shyntana heh. But this works out namely for the jist of things
Anyways enjoy...and uh..have fun, Shynt, in figuring out the poisons
Happy Holidays

so Nym has cream eyes lol opps I think I did them amberish. I just couldn't remember that detail. Oh and bad drow for killing poor little kobold. silly thing should no not to do deals with drow anyway. I liked how you made it talk. Nym looks realy cute here. I realy like how you did the ninja's mask too. and even though the background was rough you still did a top job on the structure. the angle used was interesting too. a bag of poisons is very fitting for a drow gift.

lol it's ok ^^ at least they were still sorta the same color and not like blue or green or something really off lol I think yellow is much more common than cream for drow so lol! lol yeah they're bad for killing it but hey...they freed it from its slavery...it's dead...not a slave anymore
lol. Nym and Ilm keep ending up fighting kobolds in D&D and they seem to enjoy killing the lil buggers and getting payback for having to go through such crap to try to complete their missions so ...
haha! all awkward and whatnot?
Glad you like how Nym looks
I thought he looked a lil odd at the angle but people seem to think he's cute so that's good
and yeah the mask was only one of the detailed parts of my brother's portrait of the character on his sheet so I wanted that to look good
Even if it's just basically cloth across his face and a hood lol. I'm glad you like the background too ^^ I kinda wanted something that helped it look like Nym & Ilm were nestled far above looking down from a hidden spot on the others
heh... hehe yep Nym gave a bag of poisons and got a bag o' hydra in return
hehehehehe

lol a bag of Hydra in return. hey if he can tame that hydra it might work out well in the end.
I liked how you called the kobold fodder. If you are seen as food scrap then what chance do you have in the world lol. Hey wasn't their a famous Kobold in the Neverwinter night games???? I am not sure. but yes Nym does look cute. Not as solid though and that is why he looked different to you. I think.

lol very true! it could be a most powerful "pet" to unleash on people! lol! maybe he could feed it kobolds haha!
uhhhhh...I dunno if there was or not. Possibly. I never got to play the Neverwinter Night games my mom has a funny kobold character in D&D
heh.
Yeah I think mostly it was his nose and face looking a bit more "dainty" than usual in this that was throwing me off. His body's ok but his face was hard to do.

Hahaha First of all, I LOVE the picture. I think the background looks great personally
Nym turned out really handsome too. And the little Shynt and kobold make me giggle my little hiney off
Shynt loves the poisons too and he wouldn't have a hard time figuring them out. He's immune to most of them anyway but he wouldn't be testing them on himself that's for sure! lol He'd likely find some unfortunate victims to play with He could probably figure out most by looking at them and smelling them though. He doesn't come from the House of Poison for nothin'
He loves it
Though he's laughing at Nym and Ilm for underestimating him
Shynt: Indeed. *smirks and offers a bow to them both* To counter that small spiders are easy to step on, that's only true if you SEE them. *blows kisses then goes off to find victims to test his new poisons on*

uh ohs! no more hiney for the Cari! fo shame
hehehe.... Nym's got a wider face and it was a weird angle..not quite profile or 3/4 so it was throwing me off heh...but it sorta looked like a mix between his original character sheet portrait and the full body I did of him so guess that works *shrugs* heh Ilm is covered nearly fully with layers of clothing so can't see his features as much but still was fun drawing him ^^ and yeah I just pulled up some of your refs of Shynt and sketched him down there with the lil kobold
heh...
lucky him to be immune heh... some of them that I read about in the drow book that I was specifically having Nym send aren't the easiest things to figure out because they don't have scents much to em and are clear...some you can tell by color or texture and all. *shrugs* some of them might be duds or odd mixes considering Nym and Ilm made some. Who knows. heh.... yeah well, they're burly male drows that have survived on their own and earned their rank tooth and nail so they have a bit of a ...disrespect for someone "handed their spot". And you get the noble versus non-noble grudge there. Though Ilm's got a last name, unlike Nym, so who knows...he might've had a house once or something.
Nym: On the contrary...you might be stepping on so many you don't even see without ever looking down your nose to spy them. *quips*
