I just love these cards.Β  You have put so much attention to details and so much content in each one. There is only one that I am still not certain of though... is Justice Stannis?Β  Once again, congratulationsΒ on such fine work...x

Amazing artwork!
I'm just having trouble to identify who are The Lovers and Death...

By the boat at distance and, the sword bigger than the body and the girly face I would bet is Arya, but the things below her, Joffrey(The Fool)'s crown and Tywin(The Emperor)'s scroll suggest that she killed them, which she didn't, neither indirectly or even saw their deaths. It's they are on the enemies to kill list? Seems too little to add on her picture.

Yes it's Arya and the Lovers are Edmyre and Roslin.

is it a full deck or just these 3 parts?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

poly-m In reply to angeleyes2869 [2014-08-09 07:32:47 +0000 UTC]

These three parts make a full deck of divinatory arcana.
Sadly no there arent "playable" cards in it !

Well-thought. Articulate as always. The symbolism is concise, simple, yet very deep. Your talent shines through as always with these,I think.

How much do you know about the tarot? I may be pointing out the obvious here, but the Major Arcana tell the story of a man's life when put in numerical order. The whole fortune-telling business is balderdash to me, but Persona has nevertheless fostered a fascination for the tarot in me.

Anyway -- the cards are all obviously very vague in meaning (any person could associate themselves with any card depending on their mood) but for the purposes of fitting characters I think these would have served your purposes better:

Eddard Stark as the Fool: The Fool does not represent stupidity and capriciousness so much as it does innocence -- it is the beginning of the journey. "It is the void from which all other things begin," which is a fitting summary of Stark's involvement in catalyzing the events of the entire series.

Brienne of Tarth as the Chariot: This is partly because of another change I'm about to speak of in a second. But Brienne is a potent symbol of self-assertion despite hardship. She drives her chariot on through the harshest of terrain, ever-mindful of her goal -- and, perhaps, her driving animals are the wolf and the lion, whose shared interests she aims for in spite of herself.

Joffrey I as the Hunger/Lust: The Lust typically is a replacement card for the Strength Arcanum. It represents power; the acquisition of strength for its own sake rather than for some goal. The Lust is the overindulgence and abuse of one's dominance over others. And of course, Joffrey is eventually consumed by the consequences of his excess.

Jaime Lannister as the Devil: The Devil typifies the enslaving of one to one's own impulses; to be chained and shackled by temptation. However, positively it also depicts the bonds of fellowship or commitment. Jaime is very much seen as a monster across the Seven Kingdoms. His conscience -- and his maimed arm -- have changed him at last however, leaving the selfish and irrepentant Kingslayer a more devoted, clear-sighted man of duty. In my opinion Ramsay's hideous cruelty makes him just another sure icon of the Lust Arcanum; he doesn't properly depict all aspects of the Devil quite as sufficiently as Jaime does.

So there you have it. I'm not so arrogant as to say "This is what you should make your art be"; I'm simply sharing my thoughts on this expression and how I interpret it.

Well-done.

Solid point on Ned Stark as the Fool!

...PS I hope I'm not offending Poly by agreeing with this...? That's not my intent, but please let me know if offense was given so I may rectify the behavior in the future!

Most of them are easy (Strength=Brianne, Hanged Man=Theon), but some are a delight to puzzle out.
