For some reason I hadn't yet posted the Artist Trading Cards from our SCAD group's Winter ATC swap this past January. So here they are! Please full view.

For this year I had a theme: I don't use tarot cards, but I thought it would be fun if I picked tarot cards to fit some of my personal characters, and illustrated them thusly. I put a lot of effort into these cards, the most I've worked on ATCs yet, and I'm quite proud of the results!

All of the cards are created with photoshop colouring under pencilled lineart.
INDIVIDUAL DESCRIPTIONS:

The shapechanger Severian as The Fool:
I picked Severian for The Fool because, well, his magic doesn't always work, and he's still got an incredibly gung-ho, leap-first-look-later attitude. Seemed to fit in multiple regards.

Paranoid, magic-obsessed Nikodemus as The Magician:
I picked Nikodemus for The Magician because he is the one character in his story with the creative knowledge, power, and ability to change things...and also because he's magically-inclined, duh.

Happily-married cultists Quentin and Glory Agorath as The Lovers:
These two are less well-known characters because they are sort of antagonists in the RuneWriters story. Quentin is the head of a cult of questionable magic, while his wife, Glory, leads the cult's army. But despite their dubious practices and lapses of ethics, one thing remains strong: their love for each other. They truly, deeply care for one another.

Cursed pirate, Obik, as The Hermit
I have a lot of characters who fit the "loner" archetype, but I picked Obik for "The Hermit" because he's not all he appears to be, and he was the only one who could really be said to be wise beyond his apparent years.

Jonan the Necromancer as Death:
I picked Jonan for "Death" because both his powers and his story fit the card's basic idea that from death comes new life. He's a necromancer, but also has healing abilities, and is the only necromancer who is able to raise the dead back to *actual* life. As far as his story, well, that would make this description even more obscenely long than it already is; let's just say he definitely had the whole "humbling fall from power" bit when he lost the ability to speak.

Just a small, glowing dragon as The Star:
For my last card, I decided to do something that wasn't a person character (in case my characters were a little weird for people); I wanted to do a cute/pretty dragon-thing, and I picked The Star as a nice card for that, being as it is a sort of vaguely optimistic hope.
Of course, since this was (a) glowy and (b) not a personal character, it was the most popular card.

**I know the watermarks are annoying, but I'm sure you can find it in your heart to forgive me. :3 I want to keep the ATCs kind of exclusive to those who traded with me.**
