Description
"WhyCantYouLetMeWin" on Tumblr posted one single submission, but I just noticed as I was posting this that the tumblr seems to be gone.Anyway, this is the story.
poor, poor, sick Wally.
I found this really upsetting- I love little Wally. I was seriously tearing up toward the end.

"Where to begin…I suppose it would be best if I started out by telling you who I am. I’ve recounted an experience of this nature to you before, though there’s a good chance that you weren’t able to read it before it fell away.
creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Wal… <- This story. I’m the one who experienced the glitch/event -I honestly don’t know what you’d call it- of Wally’s funeral.
As saddening as that was, I tried rather hard to experience it again. Certainly something like that couldn’t be a fluke or some freak happening. I mean, we all know the people behind our cute pokemon games have dark minds. If it happened, then it had to be somewhere in the code, right?
However, nothing I tried seemed to trigger or recreate the event. Perhaps it really was a fluke…Or maybe even a dream, something I made up and somehow brought myself to believe.
Now, onto a different yet related matter.
Surely you’ve seen the concept art they revealed of N, the misinformed antagonist of Pokemon Black and White. If you haven’t, it’s going to show up here in just a moment, don’t worry.
I was chatting online with a friend of mine a few months ago about the speculations we had about the characters in Pokemon Black and White. Things like: How Cheren hated you for being better than him. How Bianca was mentally and Emotionally abused. And, a personal favorite for obvious reasons, how N was actually Wally.
That’s when he showed me N’s concept art.
[S = Him / R = Me]
S: So what do you think about N?
R: You’re asking be what I think about N? Like I haven’t had a hundred moments of Fanboyism since he was revealed.
S: lol, man-crush.
R: Shut up!
S: XD Anyway! Have you seen the concept art they released for him?
R: I don’t think I have. You’ve gotta show me!
S: lol, calm down. I wouldn’t have brought it up if I wasn’t going to show you.

We took a few hours to scour the internet, finding a lot of dead ends in bogus ROMs and torrents, before we finally decided to check Ebay.
The search there yielded few results. Most of them were making outrageous claims with outrageous prices. I’m not paying $150 for something that’s probably a fake. However, there was one that seemed promising. If only for the considerably cheaper price.
The seller had some pokemon related name -I can’t remember what- and a rather unprofessional looking sales page. He claimed to be a former member of Gamefreak, but that was hardly believable just by the way he described the item. It seemed like he was a cross between someone who barely understood English and just learned that letters and numbers could be used to replace whole words. Much like his user name I don’t remember what it said, but I can assure you that it was painful to read to say the least.
The game was only $35, a bargain compared to the others listed, and my friend really wanted to get it.
S: I’m gettin’ this.
R: Are you shitting me? This is just as bad as the others. I’m shocked ebay hasn’t taken these jokers down yet.
S: It’s just $35, how bad could it be?
S: If it’s a bust, I get another Black game.
R: Whatever floats your boat, man.
S: lol, you sound so unamused.
S: Go in on it with me.
R: What?
S: Chip in!
R: Why should I?
S: Because if you don’t, and this is legit, I’m not going to show it to you. And I know you’re curious about it.
R: …
S: C’mon~
R: Fine! I’ll give you $5
S: $5? Cheap.
R: Yeah, well.
S: You’re just not cool sometimes, you know that?
R: lol, I’ve never been cool.
He paid for the whole thing at the time and I slipped him five dollars the next time we actually spoke face to face. Personally, now that he had actually paid for it, I was certain it was never going to show up. Nearly a month of waiting certainly didn’t help that.
But, it did eventually come and, at first, it wasn’t what either of us had expected. Well…I expected it. But there was no point in rubbing it in his face when he was as pissed as he was.
He showed up at my doorstep and slapped the game into my hand, “The damn thing doesn’t even work.”
"What?" It was hard to act surprised.
"It doesn’t work. My 3DS and my DSi won’t even register it as a game, it just tells me what there’s nothing inserted."
"So why did you bring it over here?"
"So you could try it out."
"So…It didn’t work on either of your systems, what makes you think it’s gonna work on mine?"
"Just go try it."
"Fine. Fine." He was being awfully huffy over losing $30 but, he did fall for some stupid listing.
We went upstairs and I grabbed my own 3DS and DSLite, inserting the game into my 3DS first with no results.
"See? Nothing." Not sure why he felt the need to point that out.
"Maybe it’s region locked? The guy obviously wasn’t from around here."
"He should have said that in the description!"
I laughed, something he didn’t appreciate much, “I don’t even think he knew those words.”
"Try the other one."
"Why would it—-Fine, whatever."
I humored him and picked up my DSLite, the system I had been playing Pokemon Emerald with -it was still in the GBA slot- and inserted the Black game. I turned it on and…nothing. I was about to turn it back off and call it a bust when my friend pointed out something.
"Wait a minute." He jabbed a finger at the screen, "Look at that."
I jerked the DS away from him a little to see passed his finger and, I’ll admit, I was a little excited with what I saw…not to mention a little confused.
At the bottom of the screen, where the name of the GBA game in the slot would normally be displayed, it said ‘Pokemon Black Version’.
I tapped it and something actually booted up. The screen turned black and the Nintendo and Gamefreak logos appeared normally as they would in the Black and White games. But as the screen once again faded to black, it was pretty obvious this wasn’t the actual game.
Before anything actually happened on screen, a sound came out of the speakers. Rather, it seemed like it was trying. It was just a low, staticy rumble, like my speakers suddenly decided to give out on me.
As the black faded away, both screens displayed something: The top was simply a dark, overcast sky scene. Dark clouds slowly moved from the left or the screen to the right. It wasn’t terribly detailed or anything but it had the quality of a special scene, like when you summon the dragons before your battle with N. My attentions, however, were on the bottom screen.
What seemed to play out as a sort of montage. Ghetsis’ sprite walked in from the right side of the screen, taking his time, yet I couldn’t help but sense he had a purpose. It was Ghetsis after all.
He walked towards the center and stopped, turning to face upward for just a few seconds, before turning back to continue his trek across the screen. As that screen faded away, I noticed that another sound had been added to the static rumble. Every few seconds, the sound for the ‘Perish Song’ attack played softly. —The combination of noises didn’t seem to serve a purpose beyond adding to the already bleak atmosphere.—
This continued for about five or six more areas. Each time Ghetsis walked in, stopped, looked, and waited. And each time he simply walked away. I was starting to believe this was just a walk cycle test or something. Which made absolutely no sense considering that the character movements haven’t changed too much over the years.
That’s when he got to a place that made my heart hurt. The area just outside of Petalburg city. The area I watched the characters in my Emerald game take Wally’s coffin.
Again, Ghetsis stopped, looked and waited. The staic noise spiked for a second and the screen flashed white. This seemed to be what he had been waiting for as the ‘!’ bubble popped up over his head. Just a second afterward, a dialogue box appeared at the bottom of the screen.
"Come to me."
At his call, the Shadow Triad appeared around him and he continued,
"The one we need is here. Dig."
The screen cut to black for about ten seconds and the static/Perish Song mix continued on -which is about the only reason I didn’t shut it off. When the screen faded back in…well, the hurt certainly didn’t go away.
The area had been dug up and the four of them were standing around poor little Wally’s coffin. One of the Triad opened it (they pretty much slid it off to the side like a rock you use Strength on) and the screen flashed white again with another spike in static. Things began to get more turbulent on the top screen, the sky growing darker and the clouds moving a little faster as if pushed by a strong wind, and the Dark Stone item rose up from Ghetsis’ sprite on the bottom screen, causing all four of them to retreat to a safe distance off screen.
The Dark Stone rose all the way to the middle of the top screen, now with more definition and quality (again, like the summon scene), and gathered enough energy to strike one powerful bolt of lightning onto Wally’s open coffin before falling down to rest with Wally’s body.
The coffin and body sparked and crackled with excess electricity and Ghetsis and the Triad approached it.
"The Black Hero, fallen before his time."
Wally’s body twitched and slowly sat up, tuning his head to face Ghetsis and the screen, acknowledging the fact that he had been spoken to.
"Rise. We have a revolution to prepare."
Wally slowly stepped out of the coffin and shakily moved forward, standing just one space apart from Ghetsis. His sprite was very unstable, he shook even when standing still.
For a moment they all stood there in silence, Wally’s sprite shaking unstably, until Wally began to walk off towards the left side of the screen.
"Wait!" Ghetsis shouted, his speech bubble shook to indicate the force in which he spoke, "Where do you think you’re going? I revived you, you’re to do as I say!"
Wally stopped, just a few blocks left between himself and walking off screen, but he didn’t turn back around, “Something…I need.”
"And what would that be?"
Wally hesitated for a moment and his Gardevoir teleported in behind him. It cried out -that haunting and mournful cry…- before they both turned to face the screen. Much like the ones who attended his funeral before, I could actually feel judgement in their tiny dot eyes.
The screen faded quickly from one scene to another, from the overworld to the zombie-like concept art I was shown several weeks before.
The image of N/Wally wasn’t ‘normal’. Obviously it sketchier, more rough and rugged than the other close-ups of the characters in-game, but it also didn’t move the way it should. It didn’t blink and the mouth didn’t move, it just shook. Subtly, not like massive movement or anything, but the insability of Wally’s sprite seemed to transfer to the image.
It was then that I realized that the music had stopped. In it’s place was a faint steady, raspy noise. Like the breathing of a severe asthmatic or someone who was struggling for air on a respirator.
Finally, a dialogue box popped up and Wally spoke. The ‘breathing’ sound rose to a painful sounding whine for a second, as if he were trying to choke back a sob as he answered Ghetsis with one word:
"… C l o s u r e."
With that, the screen faded back to the overworld and, before Ghetsis or the Triad could protest, the two teleported away.
The screen cut to black again for longer than just a few seconds, but I kept watching. After that kind of exit, I knew there was more.
And I was right, after about thirty seconds or so the screen faded back to the overworld.
I pressed start to see what had changed only to find that the setup was a little more normal this time. The top screen displayed the overworld and the bottom screen displayed the options. Rather…it displayed a single option: Pokemon.
I picked the option, half expecting the team to be full of pokemon with cryptic names considering how everything seemed to be going, but that wasn’t the case. Inferno, Dailoros…this was my Emerald team right down to the levels.
It was then that my friend, who had been silent since the game started, made an amused sort of noise. When I looked back at him, he nodded at the top screen. The area was Route 1, in the grassy area just below the entrance to Accumula Town, it was completely quiet…and my character sprite was that of my character in Emerald. It looked different of course, to better match the newer games graphics, but it was definitely him.
I pressed down on the directional pad to see if I had control. I did, but I couldn’t move any further beyond that little patch of grass. The only way to go was up.
As I moved up into Accumula Town, everything was silent and there was a distinct lack of people. The person hanging around outside of the Pokemon Center was gone, the Center itself was completely empty. It seemed like the area had been built, but nothing but the appearance had been added yet.
Of course that was just my assumption, I hadn’t been beyond the first building. Perhaps everything worth checking out was all up towards the top in the beginning stages of the game’s development, what did I know?
I stepped out of the Pokemon Center and I lost all feeling for a second or two. The silence of the area had been replaced by that raspy breathing-like sound and, let’s face it, it very nearly scared the shit out of me.
I moved to the left a little to move up and explore the rest of the area and the game stopped me just one block away from the side of the Pokemon Center. The breathing sounded louder on the left side of the speakers and, to satisfy my curiosity, the screen panned over a little bit to show me what I kind of expected to see.
Wally was standing there.
He shook, but made no attempt to move closer. I assumed it was my job to initiate contact, so I edged my character over to the left. I closed the gap between the two sprites, but nothing else happened. I was unable to move. I couldn’t speak to Wally no matter how many times I mashed the ‘A’ button. Nothing.
After a minute or so of nothing, I assumed the game had finally decided to freeze up on me. At least until a dialogue box popped up. It wasn’t a speech bubble like in Black and White and their sequels, but an actual dialogue box from R/S/E.
It stayed empty for a few seconds before slowly typing out:
"W h y"
It felt like there should be more, but the dialogue box faded away and a ‘!’ appeared over Wally’s head. He quickly took a step back and his Gardevior teleported in between us. It let out one sharp, very angry sounding cry and the screen flickered rapidly. A battle had been initiated.
The characters slid in to place. Much like a wild encounter, Gardevoir was already in the battle position, but my own character sprite in the bottom left didn’t make a move to send any pokemon out. He didn’t have the time to; Gardevoir had already begun to use what looked like Shadow Ball, but the dialogue announcing the move called it something different:
-Gardevoir used Black Hole!-
Despite the announcement, the move was never actually used. The move animation for Black Hole (Shadow Ball) continued to cycle and my character was never hit. Since it seemed like it was my turn, I chose the available Pokemon option and sent out Inferno. He had helped last time, I assumed he would give me a repeat victory.
Where to begin…I suppose it would be best if I started out by telling you who I am. I’ve recounted an experience of this nature to you before, though there’s a good chance that you weren’t able to read it before it fell away.

Of course, I was wrong. When is someone ever right in these situations? The second Inferno hit the field, his sprite shifted as if he had used the Brave Bird move and disappeared into the black mass in front of Gardevoir.
-Inferno was sucked in!-
Before I had the chance to pick another pokemon to more than likely send to the same fate, my five other pokeballs flew from my character sprite as if I had thrown them, sucked into the black hole the opposing pokemon controlled. With each addition, the black hole grew just a tiny bit larger.
-You’re out of usable pokemon!-
-Gardevoir is almost ready…-
Gardevoir let out one more shrill cry, what I assumed to be a sign that I was about to unleash whatever the hell it was preparing, but it was cut off.
"What are you doing!?"
Wally’s disturbing and shaky sprite slid in beside his pokemon, his raspy breathing mixed in with the battle music, which had shifted to the low HP alert since my pokemon were gone. An unsettling combination to say the very least.
"This isn’t what I wanted! I just—-"
Wally’s sprite was pushed back and the sound effect for Protect played only through the right speaker, making it sound distant from the playing field.
-Gardevoir protected its trainer!-
-Gardevoir used Black Hole!-
Rather than releasing the attack to hit my trainer, the black and purple mass of energy continued to grow until it blacked out both screens. The music quickly shifted into static before cutting off completely.
It seemed that was the end. My trainer was gone, my pokemon were gone, Gardevoir was gone, and Wally…I don’t know. I assume he was safe as his pokemon protected him before obliterating itself and my character. My finger brushed against the power button as I prepared to shut the system down, but my friend stopped me. And for good reason too, something was slowly typing out on the top screen.
"I wanted revenge. But not like this.
All humans do is hurt. All YOU’VE done is hurt.
I understand now, though.
My friend gave up his life for whatever is now left of mine.
I’m not going to let that go to waste.
No more pain will come from trainers like you.
As long I’m still breathing,
I’ll liberate them all.”
