Personality:
Meri came from the sea but does not prefer living there. While she enjoyed the brutal life beneath the waves, she decided that earth dwelling is much simpler! Of course her body requires that she submerges in water at least once a week, but other than that she's free to roam about and do horse things. Being an omnivore helps this aspect a lot; she does prefer fruits and veggies rather than grass. When it comes to meat she loves fish. Some days she'll spend hours chasing the slippery snacks around the rivers and lakes of the herd territory. Besides wandering (sometimes across herd borders because she could care less) Meri does her best to get along with others. This isn't easy since most horses lack body fins for her to read. In turn most horses don't understand her gurgly way of talking and how her body language works. This doesn't stop her from holding basic conversations and occasionally grooming her herdmates.
While her personality means well and is relatively gentle around horses her body is strong and incredibly dangerous. Instead of fur she has a sleek layer of velvety skin, and underneath that lays scratchy sandpaper skin. Her short yet tough tail can easily snap someone's head from their spinal cord if she gives them a smack with it (the tail is used to propel her large form through water at quick predator speeds, so yes it's strong I swear XD). Her fangs and ripping molars are sharp enough to tear through whale blubber and walrus if she felt like it. And even the little fins on her legs can be used as weapons; they are made of firmer material than her neck spikes and are used as spurs to stab at those annoying her. Thankfully her temper will only show against attackers and fellow sea-horses.
Meri loves to swim!!! She adores slipping sleekly into any body of water and silently cut through the currents, doing little barrel rolls and breaching like a dolphin. Her gills always appreciate the exercise and usage of each water trip. When on land she breathes through her skin and a small set of lungs. However, when in the water Meri loses most of her tameness...she'll might accidentally hurt someone by playing a little too rough since she forgets that horses are fragile, and will go berserk at the scent of blood in the water. Another major downer is her tendency to eat foals that might wander too close to the shore's edge. She can control herself on land, but something about those tender little morsels make her drool.
An interesting mare to hang around if you get the hang of her gutteral speech.
