Description
I don't do many purposely evil or just plain dislikable gemsonas. I kinda like villains who aren't tragic. They're just evil because they're a jerk or because they enjoy it. It's less realistic, but I really feel like tragic villains are frequently done wrong these days and make it look like it's totally okay to be evil if you have a sob story to justify it. In the Steven Universe games we are introduced to non fusion homeworld Garnet gems. I decided to make some of my own since Garnet is my birthstone. I started with Demantoid. The demantoid in the game is a defective era 2 overcooked Demantoid like Peridot or Amethyst. I am also working on a Hessonite and a Pyrope.

Green Pearl: Oh my stars! Did you see the disastrous outfit that Sapphire's Pearl was wearing?!
Demantoid: I know. What a clod.

Gem Name: Demantoid Garnet
Nickname: broccoli garnet (Steven)
Motto: All the crystal gems do is pretend to be something they aren't. Pink Diamond pretended to be a Quartz. Ruby and Sapphire pretend to be a Garnet. The most laughable thing of all is that they all pretend they matter.

History/Backstory: She was once the manager of Peridot who was mentioned by yellow diamond right before Peridot called Yellow a clod. In my story she is later sent by Yellow to Earth to retrieve Peridot and see that she is punished. Her ship ends up getting destroyed by the crystal gems shortly after arrival, however and she ends up stranded with her Pearl. She (much like Jasper) doesn't see the light. She even after seeing the Earth does not see the value in it. The only problem is her Pearl does. Her Pearl is her only friend and confidant. Pearl cares about her too, but eventually starts to see the value behind the planet. She starts sneaking off to see Steven and the gems when Demantoid is busy. She tells Steven she doesn't believe demantoid can't be convinced. Steven tries to explain that even though everyone CAN change, not everybody wants to. Also, despite the fact that Demantoid does care about her Pearl, she still treats her kinda poorly and sometimes just caring isn't enough if you never do anything to show it. Eventually she is caught by Demantoid with the crystal gems and assumes they kidnapped her Pearl. Pearl now put in a tough spot has to choose between Demantoid and Steven by either lying or confessing. She tries to reason with Demantoid who then immediately starts blaming Steven for "brainwashing her Pearl". Pearl then becomes mad stating that she changed and that she has a mind of her own. Demantoid then says "No you don't. You're a Pearl!" which turns out to be a huge mistake. Her Pearl begins to cry and she then gets attacked and poofed by Crystal Gem Pearl. Steven ends up bubbling her. Green Pearl during this time becomes a crystal gem, Steven discovers he's Pink Diamond and the rebellion ends. Demantoid is unbubbled at the fountain where all the gems are uncorrupted. This leads to her having a crisis. She has always been loyal to the diamonds, but now that they have joined Steven, she just doesn't agree with the principals of era 3. Then again... what is the alternative? All the gems seem to be part of this. She figures there's nothing to do but give in and eventually she goes to find her Pearl who happily ends up basically dragging her to little homeschool, not noticing that Demantoid is still kind of hesitant and uncomfortable. However, after a short time she begins to become frustrated since as hard as she tries she just doesn't understand.... until she meets Bluebird. She catches Bluebird plotting in secrecy to betray Steven but assumes nobody would believe her even though Steven totally would have. Bluebird senses Demantoid's discomfort and tries to convince Demantoid to join her in betraying Steven... and she says no. she finally comes to understand that she is happier now and didn't realize it. she has a genuine bond with her Pearl now. She has friends. She has freedom. The gems weren't pretending to be somebody else. They genuinely became something else. if they can do it, who knows what she's capable of?

Romantic Interests: Nobody, but I kinda ship her with her Pearl
Personality: initially before joining the crystal gems she's insensitive, snobby and uptight. She is mean, smart mouthed and condescending. As the story develops she opens up a little more. She's sassy, but not mean or sarcastic like before. She likes to build technological contraptions with Peridot's help. She's also learning to play the saxophone.
