Twilight comes out victorious in a duel against Starlight Glimmer, proving what kind of power a Princess of Equestria can wield.Hurray for happy endings!

This picture started out as just an excuse to practice some lighting ideas between commissions and grew wildly out of control! Before I knew it, I was doing two pictures simultaneously. This picture gave me the chance to try out lighting a scene with multiple sources of light, as well as experiment with a new method of depicting magic use. I really quite like the idea of magical sparks cascading down from the horn - I think that's something I'll be using again in the future

(Twilight hangs her head in shame and limps away from Starlight, who continues to burn.)

Sometime later:
Starlight Glimmer: (struggles to try and crawl up but is to weak to do so) Ugnh!
King Sombra: There she is! She's still Alive.

(Starlight Glimmer tries her best to look up at her master and his escort but is too weak to do so.)
"Get a medical capsule immediately."

Henchmen: Yes sir! Right away!
(They leave while King Sombra walks over to Starlight and sees the damage on her)

(After loading Starlight onto a medical berth and taking her back to the Crystal Empire, Sombra orders his men to commence repairs on his pupil's body. However, to maintain her connection to her magic, the Crystal ponies use no anesthetic, causing Starlight to feel every bit of pain.)

(Once his henchmen put every detail on Starlight they put the finishing touch by lowering a black helmet on Starlight's head and sliding the top (which looks like her mane) above her head)
Starlight Glimmer: (deep breath)

(King Sombra watches as Starlight is tilted upwards.)
King Sombra: "Young Starlight, can you hear me?"

Starlight Glimmer: (deep voice) Yes master. Where is Trixie? Is she safe? Is she alright?

King Sombra: It seems, in your anger, you killed her.
π: 2 β©: 1
Starlight Glimmer: (deep voice) I... I couldn't have. She was alive I felt it! (She struggles and uses every evil magic to crush every object she sees, while she breaks free from the table restraining her, while King Sombra smiles) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

(Meanwhile, the Mane 7 and the Princesses are trying to figure out their next move after Trixie died giving birth to her twin daughters Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.)

Princess Luna: We must keep the babies safe. They must be hidden.

Princess Celestia: We'll need to put them someplace where King Sombra won't sense their presence.

Princess Luna: Split up they should be.
Princess Cadence: Me and my husband will take the pink foal. We've always wanted a foal that would match my coat color.

Twilight Sparkle: And what about the grey one?
Rarity: I wouldn't mind taking her in. Sweetie Belle has always wanted a little sister.

(Back in the Crystal Empire, Sombra and Starlight are overseeing the construction of their new weapon, while back in Ponyville, Trixie is being laid to rest, still holding the jewel that Starlight gave her when they were children.)

(In Canterlot Princess Cadence got back from her meeting with the other Princesses and goes to see her husband holding Diamond Tiara in her forhooves and sits right next to him)

(In Appaloosa, the Mane 7 meet up with their families. Rarity approaches Sweetie Belle with Silver Spoon bundled in her magic. She passes the sleeping filly to her sister, who happily takes her, before joining her friends and watching the sunset, trying to figure out their next move.)
