Twilight comes out victorious in a duel against Starlight Glimmer, proving what kind of power a Princess of Equestria can wield.Hurray for happy endings!

This picture started out as just an excuse to practice some lighting ideas between commissions and grew wildly out of control! Before I knew it, I was doing two pictures simultaneously. This picture gave me the chance to try out lighting a scene with multiple sources of light, as well as experiment with a new method of depicting magic use. I really quite like the idea of magical sparks cascading down from the horn - I think that's something I'll be using again in the future

(Silver Spoon writhes in agony from being electrocuted, only for Sombra to begin another round of torture. Starlight shifted her gaze back and forth between her partner's daughter being tortured and the madman doing the torture. After a minute of conflict, Starlight made her decision.)
Starlight Glimmer: No! NO!
(Starlight Glimmer grabbed King Sombra by his throat and hoisted him off the ground, the mad tyrant screaming and releasing lightning everywhere, including Starlight herself. Silver Spoon watched as her "mother" carry a struggling Sombra and throw him over the edge, slumping over a guard rail as she watched him fall down a crystal conduit and be destroyed by the concentrated magic. After getting back up, Silver limped to her ailing relative, cradling her in her arms and discovering that her breathing apparatus had been damaged.)

Sometime Later:
(Silver Spoon helps her mother to a ship who collapses in front of it, Silver Spoon helps her sit up)
Starlight Glimmer: (deep voice) Silver Spoon. Help me take this mask off.

Silver Spoon: But you'll die.

Starlight Glimmer: (deep voice) Nothing can stop that now. Just for once. Let me look on you with my own eyes.
(Silver Spoon takes off Starlight's helmet which reveals her white pale face)
Starlight Glimmer: (normal voice) Now... go my daughter. Leave me.

Silver Spoon: "No, you're coming with me. Β I won't leave you here, I've got to save you."

Starlight Glimmer: You already have Silver Spoon. You were right about me. Tell your sister you were right.

(Starlight closes her eyes)
Silver Spoon: Mom... (Starlight keels over) ...I won't leave you! (Starlight exhales and slumps over dead)

(Silver Spoon drags Starlight's lifeless body into the carriage and rides off before the place could explode)

(Down in the frozen wastes, everyone watched as the Crystal Palace exploded.)
Rumble: I sure hope Silver wasn't in that place when it blew.

Diamond Tiara: She wasn't I can feel it.

Rumble: (starts feeling nervous) You love her, don't you?

Diamond Tiara: (confused at him but still smiles) Yes.

Diamond Tiara: (she understands what he means) Oh. No it's not like that at all. She's my sister.

(Rumble was shocked at first and looked away for a moment to ponder what Diamond Tiara just told him, but then she redirects him to look back at her. Β Meanwhile the Breezies started cheering while Diamond Tiara pulled Rumble in for a kiss. Β Then one of the Breezies sounded a horn, indicating that the battle was over.)

(sometime after the Crystal Palace exploded Silver Spoon lit a torch and set logs on fire where her mother's body lays with her helmet on as Silver Spoon sadly watches as the flame leapt higher to consume the body of Starlight Glimmer)

(Not long after that, celebrations rippled throughout Equestria, from Appaloosa to Ponyville, and Canterlot to the Crystal Empire itself. Β In the Everfree Forest, Ponies and Breezies alike sang, danced and played music to their heart's content, taking time to properly enjoy their victory over King Sombra. Β As the party went on, Silver Spoon arrived and received hugs from Diamond Tiara, Rumble, Applebloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Spike. Β While every pony else was busy enjoying themselves, Silver Spoon slipped away for a moment and saw the spirits of Celestia, Luna, the Mane 6, Cadence, Shining Armor and, most surprising of all, her late mothers, Trixie and Starlight Glimmer. Β As Silver Spoon paid her respects to them, Diamond Tiara called her back to the party. Β As Silver was pulled back into the fray, the spirits of her family watched happily.)
