Description The Goatman has been sighted mainly within the state of Maryland. He is said to have a goat's lower body and the torso of a human male. Horns protrude from his head. Some claim his head is fully goat. He is often described as carrying an axe. He was said to have once been a researcher, for the USDA, doing classified experiments that had something to do with goats. An accident in the lab left him transmogrified into the creature that now wanders the dark woods of Prince George County, terrorizing youngsters and serving as a living warning of the evils of biological experimentation

The Classic Sighting: A couple parked on an isolated "Lover's Lane" are ambushed by this creature who attacks their parked car. They start the engine and drive off as the Goatman howls in anger.

Besides terrorizing young people necking in parked cars, the Goatman is often blamed whenever the greusome remains of a mutilated house pet, particularly dogs, is discovered.

I really love this picture. You did an excellent job depicting my favorite cryptid.

We actually have a goatman legend in my home state, dating back to the civil war days. It concerns a soldier and his bride riding along the lonely stretch of Hog's Back Road, when their wagon's axel broke. Nightfall was coming, but the soldier insisted he'd run out to the next town and get one. That night, alone in the cart, the bride heard strange noises from outside. She dared to peek out, and saw what looked like an enormous, gangly goat standing up on it's hind legs, covered in matted fur. The terrified woman curled down into the wagon and didn't move for the rest of the night. The next morning, she finally crawled out to go find her husband. She walked for quite a while until she saw his coat hanging from a tree. She rushed forward, but suddenly stopped and screamed until her voice gave out. Because also in the same tree was the mangled remains of her husband.

Is he carrying a goat leg? Wouldn't that be considered cannibalism?

Awesome. My dad told me the Legend, because he was from La Plata, Maryland. Cool rendition. This legend ranks up in my top ten of monsters.

Just awesome, my old 7th grade history teacher had a story about the Goatman, he said that you actually had to like sign something so that he's not responsible for you going home and crying and being afraid of your own shadow...I dunno, he was an idiot and he got his ass kicked in a bar once. Might have been lieing. But I still believe in the story of the Goatman
