I've been playing 'The Thing' a lot lately. I was allready a fan of the movie but I wasn't sure if I should pick up the game only cause of my pc. It sucks at displaying games sometimes. But when I found the game really cheap I just tried it and it worked! yesss! It's an awesome game and has some real scare effects in it. So anyways, this thing is kinda inspired by 'The Thing'.

jeezes, this creature should be in the game. It could inspire fear in people. Cant wait for the new movie coming out (The Thing 2) or was that canceled. Oh well, will find out

Oh man that's like my favorite movie! Awesome picture too man. Haven't played the game yet, but to the above poster I think it takes place right after the movie.

Does the game take place in the spring of 1983 in keeping with the movie (which takes place in the winter of '82)? I remember them mentioning that they had to hole up til spring for the rescue team to arrive. Also, do you ever find the frozen corpses of MacReady and Childs? How much of Installation 31 is still intact after MacReady blew it to smithereens?
The only weapon that works on the Thing is fire, so what g0od are all your other weapons? Do they at least hold it off? I know you can gain the trust of your compatriots by handing out weapons, but if those weapons are useless (and potentially hazardous due to splatter effect of an ultra-infectious organism), it doesn't seem like it would help much.

The game is set right after the movie, you find Childses corpse, you have to shoot the monsters a bit and then flame them. It sucks because the thing is treated like a virus and one guy kills hiimself because he's "infected"

When do they become aware of the thing's existence?

When they find a load of corpses and get aattacked by loads of heads with legs. It's crap because it aas only a few tyeps of thing to fight adn their mainly muated heads. It also shows you waht the monster that tey find burned in the film looks like (and that should be left to the imagination, i think)

very interesting. the figure looks like it has just completed a rough, 16-hour journey through the digestive system of a large mammal. with the middle face you have successfully captured the combination of anguish and relief that such an experience must impress on someone. my only question is why did you choose to title it "the thing" when it is completely obvious what the subject really is?

Didn't you read the description? It's inspired by the 80's horror movie and recent videogame of the same title.
Might as well comment on it here instead of making a whole new reply; it really looks great. Like they said, it has a nice sense of form and depth to it, and the expression is nice and freaky!
