a moment of metaphysical joy, a moment of love for existence. Like a lighthouse, lifted above the dark crossroads of the world, saying "This is possible.Β will be solved with asceticism and gratuitousness remains a naive aspiration. The truth is that the indicated questions, however serious they may seem, are not unprecedented the names of artists such as Paul Gauguin, Guillermo JimΓ©nez SΓ‘en, Gabino amaya cacho, Edna Andrade, Paul CΓ©zanne, SΓ©rvulo GutiΓ©rrez, Alvaro SuΓ‘rez VΓ©rtiz among others.

I've always liked this piece. Don't suppose I could tempt you into offering it as a print?

As long as it doesn't creak or shift too much, it looks like it would make a great writing porch!

I reckon it would make a great-anything porch...except for maybe ping-pong!

This house reminds me of the one in the movie Up. It's truly "away from it all." I wouldn't mind living here for half a year or so. It's so peaceful... as long as there are no earthquakes wherever this is

It was a good movie wasn't it
I'm glad you got the vibe I was trying to put across...peaceful but a bit edgey as well (is edgey a real word?)

stockstouse In reply to postapocalypsia [2011-05-31 00:56:14 +0000 UTC]
I believe "edgy" is a real word, yes. Good adjective to describe this house's location!

Not to be too critic but wouldn't it be safer to have that house just a few feet further from the edge of the cliff?
Or is it one of those places where the cliff eroded over time to be where it is?
π: 0 β©: 2
stockstouse In reply to Thejboy88 [2011-05-29 23:56:01 +0000 UTC]
I think that adds to the extremity and beautifulness of the house. Suppose it was a safer distance from the edge... what would make it unique?

postapocalypsia In reply to Thejboy88 [2011-05-12 00:36:57 +0000 UTC]
The safest option isn't always the most attractive!
I would say though that if the cliff eroded over time to be where it is, then it may be time to move out!

It instantly creates a story in my mind! Because the place is so idyllic, never anything happens. Only once, when that real estate agent came to buy the property to turn it into a theme park. He inexplicably tripped over a loose plank on the porch and ...
... hurt his ankle badly. The trip home on his bycicle must have been hell.

Really, a very imaginative and beautifully done picture. Love the story-book illustration feel of it. Just one thought; the terrain in the background seems rather dull, although I really like it's out-of-focus look.

postapocalypsia In reply to dune-mafia [2010-08-26 22:54:22 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for your thoughts - the reason I kept the background muted was to emphasize the distance and the effect of the atmosphere...and to steer the focus back to the foreground.
Glad you like it!
