Description
This is painted from a trip to Springbrook, a beautiful forested escarpment in the Gold Coast hinterland in SE Queensland. There are walks among the tall trees along the top of the cliffs which give a wonderful sense of scale and distance. This is what I was trying to convey.

That periwinkle blue you use for atmospheric perspective. . . man alive, it's so refreshing.
You've got the scale and distance thing going on, for sure. Super nice.

Actually, this place (Springbrook) has atmosphere aplenty! I just worked my foreground to ramp up the contrast a bit.
Thanks for your feedback - appreciated!

Marvellous. The play of light and shadow among the foreground trees is beautiful. I think the masterful work in the picture is the light caressing the stalks of the trees on the left foreground. Creates the perfect balance: alternating illuminated and shadowed regions, following a span of focus, from sharp to vague. Well done, my friend!

Man, thanks for your generous critique!
Whenever I visit this place it's the shifting puddles of light and shade through the trees that catches my attention - I'm glad you notice these things too! For me the whole place has sensory aesthetic overload...distance, detail, light and shade, warm and cool - I appreciate your feedback

I'm an Aussy living far from Aus. ... this makes me homesick...sad and happy at the same time. I can smell the bush, hear the sounds and you have captured the Australian light and mountain haze so beautifully ... I'll just sit here awhile and completely take in this beautiful view.....

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed my work - all the best to you!

By "far" I guess I mean distance in time, I've been many years away. Nepal has much natural beauty but your paintings remind me of what I'm missing in Oz, for I love the Australian bush and her beautiful shores. I'm glad I found your gallery.

You will need one of your friends here to send you a few things - like a sprig of wattle (it's blooming at the moment) a couple of gum leaves and a cicada shell, and somehow, that smell of new rain on a dusty road.

Ah, yes ... and the call of a Kurrawong ... not to mention a Kookaburra ... Thank you for your kind thoughts. Here, this morning, I'm smiling, as I watch a mongoose and her family "glide" as they softly leap over flowers, avoiding Monsoon puddles.
All the best to you too !
