Description
My first genuine attempt at a somewhat accurate star/hypergiant/whatever.Done for The Luminarium's most recent exhibit, Elements, for which I was the featured artist

Very interesting choice of textures in the nebula, I like it. The star itself is fantastic.
I only have a few critiques:
I want to say that I think that the composition would be a bit stronger if you cropped out the left 1/6th of the image, but the result would take too much of the focus off of the star. Not sure how to fix that exactly, but something about the current composition seems a little off-balance.
The foreground planet seems a bit dark, but that could totally be this crappy monitor I have at work.
Finally, I'm not sure that it makes sense for that moon to cast a shadow on its parent planet with the light as it is (although, come to think of it, the way you lit that planet makes it look like there is a secondary lightsource off-canvas that would totally make it work, so maybe I'm just wrong).
Overall I still think this piece is awesome. I'd be proud of this result even if it were my 5th attempt at creating this kind of star, and I love your use of texture throughout the image.

Not sure about how I feel about the crop idea, but I agree on the moon shadow. My friend who was watching the process from start to finish gave me plenty of shit for it
