Reminds me of a cover from one of Orson Scott Card's novels. Great work!

Welcome back! I like the less saturated colors, they work very well here. Do you plan on doing more over your break?

Possibly, depending on whether or not I get in the mood again. This is interesting and I'll delve into it a bit.
I've found in more recent months that space-art isn't coming as easily to me as it did in the past. Perhaps this is because I see that the genre is once again stalling out, and every time I start to do something I knee-jerk react to it and say "Oh, it's been done a thousand times before..."; there really is only so much that can be accomplished in any genre before repetition becomes the norm. Even this piece looks like a thousand other far better images in the depths of dA. Planets with rings and spaceships is not a novel concept in the genre. But what my future production of art (and it's inherent uncertainty) bears in difference to the banks of art already made is that my art makes me happy to work on it. I realized that while working on this one, the day after finals; it was the first time in many months that I woke up, sat down at the tablet, and worked and brushed for literally the entire day. And it felt so great to be able to do this, it was such a monumental bit of stress-relief.
So that's basically what it boils down to. I would love to think that more will be coming from this, in fact I hope it does. But it just depends on whether or not it makes me happy to do it, since I don't do it for any other real reason than me

Well that's really what it comes down to for all of us, no? Space art right now is largely derivative, but I still have fun doing it, and as long as that is the case I'll keep on doing it. Either way, it's good to have you back, no matter what genre you continue in.

Tons of satellite composites The texture file I was taking from was 15,000x15,000px. When in doubt, go big
