Description
Thaw. On a distant planet, in an extremely cold part of the universe, a star that has just succeded it's dwarf stage and gone to the red-giant stage will melt the ice shelf on a frozen planet. It has already completely heated the permafrost on a neighboring planet, and water is visible on the entire surface, along with dirt that has not been seen in an eon. Soon, the entire planet will be like it's brother, and the ice will be gone.------------------------------------------------
I decided to do a minimalistic piece. No nebula. I also broke away from my "Desert Terragen Colors" habit. I have been working on this one for about 2 days now, just trying different things, nothing much. By the way, just because I submit alot of art doesn't mean that I don't put serious work behind. Common misconception. I start projects simultaneously, and then finish them on their own time. It works for me, so... I'll keep doing it.
EDIT: **ASTEROID TUTORIAL**
Forgot to mention my new asteroid technique! I assume if you have made asteroids, you know how to do an asteroid brush. Here's the trick... Take you're asteroid brush, after you have painted the asteroids, take the magic wand tool set the tolerance to 2, and click anywhere outside of an asteroid, then click Select Inverse. You have now selected all of your asteroids...
Click Filter>Render>Difference Clouds. Repeat the filter until you have a range of highlights and lowlights in each asteroid. Then, click on Filter>Stylize>Emboss. Emboss the asteroids at high settings, make sure the asteroids almost look like vectors. Then, click on Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast. Set the brightness at -58, contrast at 60. Voila! Textured Asteroids.
Don't forget to play with the settings and stuff, since I wrote this little tutorial from memory. You could get results that you like even better than from this!
Enjoy this one, I actually think it is one of my best
Thanks!

cool picture, really nice idea with the water and the reflection. Just one thing: the reflection... just don't look very realistic. The reflection of the mountains is great, with the perspective and the 'wave-blur'. but that's somehow missing on the spacescene-reflection. Also, you can see the reflection of the spacescene through the mounain-reflection.

well, it's still a neat idea, maybe you can work on it (or something similar) again.

i like all your art, but the pieces that really caught my eye are: this one^, yor featured deviation, Reflections of Space, Solitude, and What Dreams May Come (i love the name you chose for that one also, an amazing film )
you art has a very surreal and mystical quality to it, like the images of a vivid dream that have been forgotten and remembered within another dream, wonderful effect that you capture perfectly

I love it. But i do have a problem with the reflections and the dark side of the planet, it's just a thought (and im probably wrong) but i think u should make dark side of the planet completeley black...and why is the reflections of the ice ripply but the reflection of the planet and the star clear?? Still a good job though.

I will try to fix that ripple effect, although I have already put ripple filters on both the star and planet reflections. As for the dark side of the planet, it is meant to be like that. I put city lights on the other side of the planet, and that's why it's not completely black. Besides, if it was completely black, there would be too much negative space in the picture. The image is already minimalistic enough, and I didn't want to ruin it with having almost no color.
But I will try to fix the reflections
thanks for the critique!

Not bad
I love the asteroids and the big star
Critique: Work a little on your terragen and Text placement, but other than that, you did a great job.

thanks
The text placement was on purpose, I know it's not the best, but it's meant to be there for a reason
Thanks, I will definitely work on Terragen also
By the way, are you in any clubs like Terraspace, or Inner-Space?

Yes, I am in Inner-Space, Terrageneration, and Spacescapes
Why do you ask?

Nah, I was talking about Terraspace... like, the one you have to try out for. I really really want to get in, but every time I submit my artwork for judging, either I get no response, or the one time I actually did get a response, I recieved a note from Edlo basically telling me that I dont spent enough time on my projects...
Even though, I sometimes spend up to a week or more on a single piece.
Anyways, thats why. I was just wondering

Terraspace? Heh I could maybe get in if I wanted. I didn't know you could be judged, what are the details?

Yeah, they have to judge you before you join. If they think you aren't ready, then you won't make it. Inner-Space and Spacescapes are just "watch & join" clubs, but Terraspace takes time and patience. Let me know if you make it in

Alright, I will
I'm making a space piece right now that I will have them judge.
