Description This is a stamp for those who don't want to upgrade from Windows XP, likes to use Windows XP as a guest operating system or that their old PC falls far short of the hardware requirements required to run current Windows-based operating systems.

Despite Windows XP recently moving from Mainstream Support to the Extended Support phase, it still remains the best selling operating system of all time...especially having almost totally dominating the operating system market with a 85.3% market share in a December 2006 report.

Hundreds of millions of people still use Windows XP worldwide. Windows XP is the operating system that will never die!

I didn't know that your first laptop still has Windows XP on it. No wonder it hasn't been supported for more for four years.

I used XP from 2002 to 2007, Vista from 2008 to early 2010 and early 2014 to early 2017 as my main OS. I now use Windows 8.1 Pro.

Cool! I use Aero10 as my main OS (modded 10 LTSB) and it's really solid.

Even though I still use a mechanical HDD for my OS and an ext. 2TB HDD for my files, it loads nicely. I think you can try it out on a VM or something. It's made by a couple people named Red_Eye_Computing and AO554. You can find a video about it online. (not forcing you to install it, just telling you who the OS was made by and how nicely it loads on my PC)

Wonderful! I actually have two 1 TB internal Western Digital hard disks on my computer. The first one is over 35,000 hours old and the second one is over 28,000 hours old according to the SMART attributes and they work just as fine.

It's a good thing that I never leave my computer running for more than two weeks prior to rebooting.

superlions16 In reply to ppgrainbow [2018-05-02 23:08:19 +0000 UTC]

Huh. I didn't even know that SMART can check the drive's age. I always turn off my computer every night then turn it back on in the morning or after school (depending on if I have school that day or not).

I rarely turn my computer off and that is only during windy conditions in a event of a power outage.

superlions16 In reply to ppgrainbow [2018-05-02 23:49:12 +0000 UTC]

That's understandable. Power outages can harm your system.

ppgrainbow In reply to superlions16 [2018-05-03 00:11:48 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I have the computer connected to a 7-port surge protector to try to reduce the harm caused by power outages.

(battery's been replaced before)

I used to have my old connected to a APC backup until it stopped working. That was years ago...

superlions16 In reply to ppgrainbow [2018-05-03 00:33:18 +0000 UTC]

Wow. Those older backups have a tendency to stop working after long, heavy usage.

By they way you should look at some of my art. I'm working on a bunch of XP hacks and I usually post boot screens of them. Soon i'll post other pictures, like desktops and whatnot. I also do digital art and fanart. I also took a photo, but I had to censor it due to privacy reasons.

I used Windows XP as my main OS from 2002 to the end of 2007 and Windows 2000 as my main OS from 2010 until 2014. Windows Vista as my main OS from 2008 to 2010 and 2014 until last year when I switched to Windows 8.1.

I used Windows XP 'til 2013/2014. I switched to Windows 7 because of a stupid genuine notification that keeps screaming you have an illegal copy of window on your machine. Due to a massive installation-uninstallation procedure, my old machine shut down, and I had no other choice but to switch to stupid Windows 7. I miss my old XP so much.

I was on the same boat when I switched to Windows 7. I purchased the copy from eBay and found that the product key was blocked and I had to return it for a full refund and go for Windows 8.1 instead.

The latest versions of Windows are rubbish! They are non-functional, complicated and take a long time to do the boot procedure. Not to mention the update definition, for this, the whole eternity pass before it completes. Who has time to bother with this? Especially employees in mega Companies, Banks, and Corporations. I doubt that the Pentagon Government and the White House is using these operative systems. They have no time to bother with this.
