Description (2008) Just another armed japanese old man in a bike.

Old sketch (1999), pen lineart done last year (2007) and colored now .

There are some anatomic issues, but I decided to leave it as it was (sorry, for my laziness).

Ballpen, sakura 0.5 pen, and colored in OpenCanvas 4.

FYI: "Otsan" = Japanese middle-aged man .

The cross-hatch shading you've used throughout the image, especially in the muted, dark background add a profound gritty feeling to this work. It sets the mood well coupled with the emotionless, apathetic expression in the man's eyes. He isn't even looking in the direction his gun points, which among other things, could connotate a detatched emotional state, disinterest;or boredom brought on by familiar routine. The contrast between the signs & his actions, make the character seem rather brazen. His left shoulder seems to be wounded,so maybe this is a retaliation?

Any anatomical flaws in this are not immediately noticeable, unless one is scrutinizing. (which is atleast what i had to do to identify the ones you mentioned!). Perhaps the most obvious of those would be the right hand, because of its size & what appears to be an odd 'arrangement' of the fingers. Trying to immitate that position, especially while gripping handlebars seems painfully impossible.

Overall this is very well drawn, maybe the highlight of your gallery. The style seems reminscent of good comic art, which adds some nostalgia.Excellent work.

It is a surprise find a deep comment in this piece, as this is just a kind of experiment with textures and colors, using an unfinished old sketch, done almost "straight to pen".

There is no really a "philosophical" meaning in it, but everytime I see it, I immediately spot those issues, then this weird guy is starting to annoy me. But I would prefer thinking it/he is just "passable" because I won't like to work on it again.

Anyway, thank you very much for leaving a nice comment.

An experiment, like so many others with art, that turned out rather well then might i add. Also,it doesn't seem unusual that later on or after certain experiences an older work may suggest new meanings to the artist as well as the viewers.
