Cool! What a beautiful rendition of the 1957 chevrolet!
I like this kind of composition, with the close cropping. It creates visual interest, and almost becomes an abstract piece. There is only one place where i become confused...that dark violet value that comes up against the headlamp bezel...the rest of this is very easy (and fun) to read.
Your proportions look very close, and you did a fantastic job on the extreme foreshortening in so many tiny areas.
You did an excellent job of capturing the character of this iconic car. Even people who do not know what kind of car it is will recognize it as an icon of the fifties.
You have an excellent range of values here. I would have liked to see some more values in the headlamp. And brilliant use of value changes to show the many curves and twists in the planes and contours of the piece.
This really is a sterling piece of work! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c⦠" width="20" height="20" alt="

... I would agree 100% with Storm 53's evaluation / Great Job, indeed ! My ONLY observation that might be a matter of historical concern for future works, is that parking lights and turn signal lenses were NOT amber back then... GM / Chevrolet used a white lens until amber became the legal standard in 1963 --- then, amber bulbs were available for retro-fitting behind the translucent white lenses...

Thanks! and while the orange lenses are not original, the car i photographed for the picture had them. I guess i forgot about that, and i kinda like the orange against the purple anyway. Thanks again, and good attention to the details!

... I run into the same "original equipment" dilemnas myself every now & then when doing a drawing or painting for a specific client's specific vehicle --- it's almost unavoidable... But I always point it out the accuracy for the case, in any write-up for a "public showing" --- that's just me, tho --- I've been caught too many times by old-timers who knew better --- LOL !
... and, I'd agree that the amber against purple IS a striking contrast --- when growing up in Pittsburgh, PA back in the 50s, There was a Chevy dealer whose 1957 customer "courtesy cars" WERE orange & purple ! Everyone knew who they belonged to !
