Description
Where I'm currently at in my reconstruction of the gigantic filter-feeding fish from the Jurassic, Leedsichthys. Got rid of the smaller, ribbon-like ventral fins which are present in other pachycormids but NOT in Leedsichthys itself. Also compared to theΒ rough sketch Β it has a less sloping head, more elongated jaws, and more accurate pectoral fins. I think the result is much more pleasing to the eye, and captures more of the "fishy" essence. In part because I spent more time looking at pictures of living fish (tuna, swordfish, trevally, etc) beforehand, which I highly recommend for any reconstruction of an animal with living relatives. Thank god I don't have to draw a ton of scales like I did with Hypuronector. But adding the texture entirely through color is a challenge in and of itself. Stay tuned!Related content

Definitely looks fishy.Β Cannot really picture such a beasty as a filter feeder but what do I know.
