Description
My fourth attempt at forging, this time a friend joined in.The upper is an axe head I repaired. The (cheap) original had some glossy black paint on it, was too thick at the cutting edge and had a lot of visible gouges made by a file. I hammered those out, burned off the paint, did some general re-work and a nice beeswax finish instead of paint.
The middle one is not made by me. it started out with the same intention of my knife beneath it, but as this was his first time things went quite differently. In the end we called it an Orc Bagger ( like a dagger, only 'bagger' means crap in dutch.) The curve and jagged blade are part of the accident. It was meant to be straight but it curved... so he curved it back again, further down the hilt. It's a quite nasty thing with it's jagged blade, and it might as well break off inside of the victim's ribs or leave him with blood poisoning. But it turned out prety nice after all!
The small knife was made to be an all-purpose and simple knife for viking re-enactment. It's also why I started this project. I'm really happy with it as it turned out exactly as I had in mind!
