Voltonyx's design combines elements from such dinosaurs like Baryonyx and Icthyovenator, resulting in an imposing figure focused on combat. Sharp scales overlay his body, followed by a thick fin on the back and several long spines adorning the body. There are two sets of primary spines along Voltonyx's arms that appear segmented, which tie into his main techniques.

While this gigantic spinosaurid is built perfectly for close combat, his real abilities lie in the electromagnetic buildup within the body. Voltonyx is able to discharge this electricity through the primary spines on his arms, which can unfurl and be used as whips to strike relentlessly from a distance. Furthermore, the tips of these spines are laced with edges that will dig into an opponents skin if enough force is applied. Once lodged, the whips discharge like a taser, shocking the enemy into submission.
