fluffy fetlocks, tail and mane. Beads and braids in the hair and the light colors.
Back-story: Kay always had the innate need to travel. He wanted to see other things that aren't a part of the monochrome life he was used to.

Once allowed, he joined the warriors to help push back the wolves. But after a severe injury, that was no one's fault but cruel mother nature, he was injured on his right front hoof. Its since healed but it still occasionally causes him pain the ice having severed a tendon.
Bored and unable to continue fighting Kay packed up the possessions he had and decided he wanted to travel.

Along the way Kay learned the trade of appraising artifacts. He also picked up woodworking as a hobby. His interest in artifacts was peaked after being horribly jipped by a greedy pony. At the time desperate for funds he sold a family heirloom for 20x less than its worth. When Kay found out later he knew he couldn’t afford to be that uninformed again.

Now he uses his skills to trade trinkets and treasures he can find. Hes not a cheat. Fairness and mercy is important. If someone cannot pay but desperately needs something, he’ll kindly turn them down. His livelihood is dependant on his trade. The woodworkings he makes for kids are free. His most popular children toys his flapping ducks, whistles, and yo-yos.
His personality is kindly, adventurous, and fair, much like a dad. He doesn't have children of his own but considers everyone his children often referring to them as young folk, son, ect. He enjoys story telling for the kids and making bad jokes only he laughs at.

Other: The fox on his back is named Loki, he has two tails from a genetic defect(nothing magical). His bag has a magic spell over it that makes it like Mary Poppins bottomless carpet bag. Well sort of there is a size limit and it won't accept any animal that's living. Loki likes to snuggle down inside of it and munch on the nuts.

His hair is supposed to be very salt and pepper.

He really likes Tea and his cartoon equivalent is Iroh from Avatar the Last Air Bender with more puns.
