Yeah, I've come to appreciate IV fans just for being IV fans, simply because we're so few and far between.

And by fandom having lots of Rydia, it just got to the point where finding something about Rydia wasn't special anymore. It seems like every IV fanfic author ever has done some fic about Rydia's reaction to Mist, or the Feymarch, or her time being out-of-sync with everyone else's. And while those are things that interest me, by the hundredth time I'd rather just skip over it and look for something else.

A big part of the annoyance came from looking for non-Rydia stories for IV. I fell in love with Kain and Cecil's interactions right at the beginning, and was rather unsatisfied when they pretty much didn't talk for the rest of the game. As such I went searching through the fanfiction archives and became a bit discouraged when half of it featured Rydia. Granted, I'm sure I'm exaggerating, (people who are looking for non-Kain stories probably think the same thing about him; everyone and their mother has written Kain in the Tower of Zot), but it does feel that way sometimes.

That said, I don't actually have anything about Rydia fans, or Rydia for that matter She's a really cute kid, and kicks a lot of ass as an adult. She probably has the strongest character of anyone in the game, and quite possibly the most common sense as well (which was something most characters were obviously lacking). She has a lot going for her, so I completely understand where the Rydia fans are coming from. She was probably my favorite character as a kid, since Kain got extra points for having an awesome helmet and Cecil lost some for defying my will and becoming a paladin when dark knights were obviously so much cooler. Wow, I was such a fanboy ^_^;

Also, MistyRydia's a good name.

Glad you liked the picture! I love her child character for being at the same time really powerful and really vulnerable. And she was just too cute in the DS remake with her little 'ooh! pick me!' dance whenever there was an item she could use. I can totally see dark knight Cecil buying her ice cream in Kaipo or something.

i would say the cg rendition for ff4ds mainly, because i cannot recognize that as reflecting the sprite artwork for the original game and that's what i went by when i was way younger

Ah. Yeah, the cg renditions are so based off the Anamo art they have almost nothing in common with the original sprites.
I didn't mind the character redesigns so much, but had that problem with the voice acting.

i would say the in-game polygon looks have more resemblance to amano's art than the cg renditions did, but that's because i'm upset that rydia basically looks like a greenhaired yuna
