Do you set your dodge and burn tool to midtone (or highlights or shadows)? And for basic shadows do you still use the dodge/burn tool? (Sorry for all the questions, if you don't want to answer them I understand)

In photoshopp when you select the dodge or burn tool, there is an option to put the seetting at midtone, shadow or highlight. That's what I meant
