I got asked to make a CATS tutorial... I was really flattered, but it was a bit difficult, since I kinda draw the characters from CATS like everything else I draw...My approach on this was to show the differences between the realistic characters from the musical and my version of them.
Hope you like it!
EDIT: As I get asked about this a lot... You can totally use this piece as a source of inspiration when you draw your own characters or characters from the musical. I don't mind at all. : )

I like this tutorial. I've always found it a bit weird when people draw Cats characters and clearly draw the tail being tied around their waist or something like that. So, your way of drawing them makes much more sense to me (and it looks very nice, too!

Yeah, me too. Unless they're drawing a person dressed up in a CATS-styled costume. But if you're drawing a character of the musical, then it's bit unnecessary and weird...

I think that drawing CATS takes a lot of practice or something. When I started to draw them they looked nothing like this.
