Description
1) This is my Courier, Birdie. In previous memes I have referred to her as "Butch and Sophie's daughter". however it has been pointed out to me that FNV only takes place three years after FO3, so I've decided that Birdie is Sophie's cousin instead.
She never met her father, and her mother was shot and killed on the strip by an NCR soldier when Birdie was only five years old. She was taken in by the Omertas, given a job as a drug mule in exchange for room and food (no one suspects a child). She was "mothered" by a ghoul prostitute by the name of Darley, who kept her away from drug use. When Birdie was fifteen, the Omertas started pushing chems on her, so she left to become a courier instead.
2) Yeah...Birdie pretty much does whatever she feels like with little to no concern about consequences.
3) She hates the NCR for personal reasons, and as far as she's concerned House is a bossy prick; other than that she runs with whoever she feels like. Of course, she wants Vegas, and refuses to let anything stand in her way.
4) Birdie's a huge wild card; one minute she's your best friend, piss her off and she'll gut you like a pig.
5) She's got a thing for Benny; sure at first she wanted to rip his lungs out, but the more time she spent tracking him, the less she could blame him (after all, how many people has she killed on her travels?) and the more intriguing he became.
6) Milo is two things Birdie hates, NCR and a chem addict. Also, I hate Milo because he was loud, belligerent, a druggie, and NCR.
7) She can't help it, she loves breaking jaws.
8) Birdie, surprisingly, loves the Legion, she just doesn't want them on The Strip. They hate the two things she hates most; so win win. Of course, merciless slaughter of NCR soldiers always brightens her day.
9) Yeah...Birdie's love for the Legion made saving Benny all the more painful, but in the end, she digs him! (and I got geekminxen's "Benny Returns" mod so I could have him as a follower) www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mod…
10) Not a chance she's letting him go!...or breathe...sometimes she doesn't remember her own strength.

Ha, I saved Benny the first time. Then the second time I made my rather intellectual Courier fight him in the arena fair and square, cause that's how she rolls. I was hoping she'd chop his head off but sadly to no avail that didn't happen
... But anyhow my next Courier is going to be a lot like Birdie here probably, heh. Friendship!

Wow. How did I not think to name a Legion-Courier Venus? xD Its actually a rather.. nice-sounding name now that I think of it
That sounds lovely xD... I'm starting to get mixed vibes on what I want my Nameless Chainsaw-wielding Legion-Courier to be now... Maybe Sadistic? Homicidal? Suicidal? A masochist?... Or all of the above. (I also just read Birdie's backstory.. And I've got to say I find it slightly ironic how you said she was a drug mule as a kid and "No one suspects a child" I was planning on something similar o3o... Except she wouldn't be around 5 years old.)
Btw what program did you use to make this? And do you use a Tablet?

I'm also partial to Persephone and Diana.
When is doubt ALL OF THE ABOVE.
I wanted a reason for her to NOT do chems, her personality would point to addiction, but I'm very against hard-drug use.

When you say Persephone I think of Hades wife. And Diana the Goddess of the hunt.
Yeah... Reality-wise drugs are BAD. I never really saw in Fallout that Chems were bad *Though I don't bother remembering all of them*.. because some were used as medicines but in a sense some meds are drugs... Just not as lethal. The only one I suppose I saw as bad was the Jet and Pyscho (I really never understood how Jet worked up till' now.. Decided to google it.. and... Ew to say the least with what its made out of. But apparently its some kind of inhaler?)
Yay. I'm actually really.. new to all this type of stuff. Is a iPad a type of Tablet?... I think it is.. xD.

I'm kind of neurotic about medicine irl though, I've had some bad experiences, so I do't take it unless a doctor MANDATES it.

Yikes. I'm not really one to care about medicines as long as it'll make me feel better. I don't really think I've had any type of meds though now that I think about it. The only thing I'm VERY neurotic about in that department is Needles/Syringes ... e_e
I think I can draw with it.. I just need the Tablet Pen.. thing... > I'm learning. Next step is going to be coloring everything.

1. I'm sorry I forced you to change her origins
2. A little bit like my Angel... XD
Though in the end she does help out for greater good. ^^
3. House isn't really bossy, he WAS the CEO of Robco. The largest robot manufacturer in the country.
He just sees everyone as employees and the Courier as his right hand. ^^
4 and 5. Wonder if she and Angel would get along...
My Angel is a rather horny lesbian, so she might try to get with Birdie.
She tends to wanna get into the pants or skirt of any cute girl she sees... XD
6. Ranger Milo is a chem addict?! o_0
7. My girl loves to blow peoples heads off... XD
Well, if they are hostile towards her...
8. Wow a woman loving the Legion?!
Though also wanting Vegas for herself, that's a problem... XD

1) Oh it's no problem I like this origin better anyways, and it fits better with canon.
2) Lol Birdie doesn't do things for THE greater good, she does them for HER greater good lol.
3) Oh I know (I've played it A LOT) But Birdie sees him as a prick, considering he consistently insults her. lol
4) Probably lol Birdie's a raging bisexual; and she's always out for kicks.
6) Yeah, if you aid him (I never have, but my ex did) he asks for a ton of psycho for him and his men. The NCR actually uses chems for combat enhancement quite often; it's a bit disturbing.
7) YES. Gotta love violent gaming homicide.
8) Lol yeah, she thinks the Legion is a great society, but she doesn't want to give up Vegas and all it's vices; little bit of a hypocrite huh? lol
9) I said Vulpes is MY favorite, Benny is hers lol.
10) Yeah I maxed out her strength from the beginning of the game lol

So why do you hate the NCR?
And what do you think about the Legion policies on women? XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ProbablyAGothKid In reply to DannyAndYoko [2014-08-02 04:10:58 +0000 UTC]
Well, I don't agree with the Legion policies on females...obviously; but it should be noted that the higher up you go in Legion ranks, the more amiable the views on women are. For example, I've played strictly for the Legion all but Birdie's play-through and the only person who was ever rude about my gender was Otho.
I hate the NCR for a few reasons:
1) The first NCR people who speak to me in the beginning of the game are assholes (guy outside Primm, for example)
2) Even when the NCR still likes me they get pissy when I refuse to help. (An officer tracked me down on my way to Cottonwood to ask for my help, I told him I was busy and he threw a fit)
3) RANGER MILO
4) Sharecropping. Arguably, sharecropping is worse than slavery. Those people are worked to the bone and are not fed or housed by the NCR, they have to pay what little they make TOO the NCR to rent houses, and are buried in debt because they must also rent the equipment. It's a vicious cycle.
5) Moore's a bitch.
I understand why some people like them, but personally I cannot stand the two headed bear.

If I were Caesar, I would allow mostly all slaves to challenge soldiers in the arena after a year or so of working.
If they manage to win, they are rewarded with a place in the military and more respect, male or female.
Rank and respect needs to be earned but everyone would have a good chance. ^^
1. I don't think he's that rude...
2. Maybe because you were also very liked by the Legion?
3. Yeah, don't really see it... :\
4. I'm not completely sure about that, though the NCR is in a war zone so limited resources all around.
It's natural the farmers would suffer a bit as well.
5. Lol XD
Nah, she's just trying to do her job.
I think I'm personally a bit between House and Yes man myself.
I'm still on my Yes man run, so can't say for sure which one I like more.
Did House, NCR and Legion so far.
House is a quite good at what he does and has a very good thing going.

I agree, there should be a system in place to rise through the ranks (I think they have one for the men, don't hold me to it, I can't remember that may have been actual Rome...I have a bit of a Rome obsession. My Dad bought my a set of Beginner encyclopedias when I was little so when my mom kicked him out (I was three years old) I read all of them; the Romans were my favorite so I never really quite looking for information about them.)
1) "What the hell are you doing here? Primm is off limits." -I can take care of myself.- "It's your ass."
^I found that an incredibly rude way to greet a traveler. 'Hey, Primm's off limits, it's dangerous right now.' would have sufficed.
2)'Blah blah blah "we could use your help." -I'm busy right now.- "Fine. If you're going to be that way I'll leave you alone."(snarky attitude)
^He chased me through the Mojave on the assumption that I would help; his fault for assuming.
3) I suppose we'll have to disagree about Ranger Milo; I just can't stand him.
4) I'm going by American history, the South used Sharecropping after slavery was outlawed to keep their "free" labor force. This was worse because the plantation owners no longer had to provide food and housing for their former slaves. The pay was awful, much less than the average factory worker. And where were the exslaves to live? They had to rent property from the plantation owners, so the money they earned went right back to their "employers". Of course, they couldn't just break even, no, the exslaves had to rent their farming equipment from their "employers" as well, burying them in a mountain of debt that legally they were BOUND to pay off, even though it was impossible.
5) In one of the official restorative mods (from the developers), one that overhauls Vegas and fixes what Bethesda didn't have time to include, Moore's karma is actually set to evil.
I don't like Mr. House; he believes New Vegas is saving mankind, when in reality it merely saves it's vices. Human civilization "thrives" in other settlements all over the wasteland. He honestly believes that and yet he called me the stupid one. I don't like his personality, and I find it ridiculous that he pays more for snow globes than the platinum chip.
^At least when an "evil" Courier takes Vegas, you can chalk it up to greed.
As far as the Legion is concerned, I'm actually concerned about it's longevity; it's not going away anytime some, it spans the East, but if Caesar is to die (and he is getting old) power falls to Lanius. While Caesar was an excellent leader, one who understands that not everything has to be crushed through military prowess, Lanius is a butcher (Lanius is the name given to him to reflect that). Lanius has no idea how to effectively run a people, he only knows war, and frankly I don't consider him very good at that. Other higher ups in the Legion do not like him, Vulpes Inculta for example strongly dislikes him, and Lucius does not seem thrilled by the idea of Lanius taking over. Vulpes leads an entire faction within the Legion, and Lucius has been Caesar's right hand, so he is well respected; I believe there would be riots within the Legion if Lanius took over, civil war. Now, if Lucius were to assume the role of emperor, the Legion could stand strong, Lucius seems to have similar ideals to Caesar, and I believe he could emulate Caesar's leadership virtues.
Also, While I'm on the topic of the Legion and Caesar's rule; let's not forget that Caesar is trying to build ROME. In Fallout New Vegas we only see military forts and encampments of the Legion, we never see its cities. It can be assumed that, given Caesar's desire to emulate Ancient Rome, that it would have thriving cities comparable to a ruined "Solitude" of Skyrim. I use Solitude because Skyrim and Fallout are both Bethesda games.

That wall of text... XD
Moore is evil?!
After Googling I thought you meant someone else... XD
Well I don't think she's evil, she just want results as the war has gone long enough.
Though she does not seem to like peaceful solutions with long time enemy factions too much, but that's most likely just some bad experiences with said factions... :\
Mr House actually wants to go to a new planet... XD
Well the Legion draws inspiration from ancient Rome but Caesar doesn't want to have it exactly like it.
And yeah when Caesar dies, the remaining command structure will quarrel over leadership to the point it will break up anyway... :\
If not, Legate Lanius will take command who will have no clue how to lead the non war aspects to leading a nation as large as the Legion.

ProbablyAGothKid In reply to DannyAndYoko [2014-08-02 16:45:33 +0000 UTC]
Sorry lol I'm really into debate. My AP History class drilled that into me.
Yep, the developers marked her as an evil character. Not that I really care about that; I don't consider Vulpes Inculta to be evil (A devious strategist, committing atrocities in a long term war, but not evil), not do I consider Benny evil. (I mean come one, Benny shot the courier, big whoop, how many "nameless" people does the courier kill in a day? A LOT.)
Wow...maybe he can catch a ride with the Bright followers. lol
Regardless, Caesar is trying to build a civilization where humanity survives, same as all the other major factions. He WAS a Follower of the Apocalypse for a long time, typically the Followers have interest in preserving mankind. The morality of Caesar's initial conquering of the first few tribes (blackfoot for example) can be argued; however Caesar (and Joshua Graham) reasoned that the tribes would be better off under organized rule; they didn't do it for personal gain. Caesar's doing this because HE THINKS it's what is best for human kind.
I think we have different understandings of the Legion "Breaking up". Caesar's Legion is a huge, sprawling society in the East; anarchy doesn't happen over night (not in a society like that one).
This is speculation on my part, but I think Lanius would be easily ousted. Vulpes Inculta seems to be much stronger of will than Lucius (I love Lucius too, I'm not trying to discredit him), and Lucius is known to be well respected, and at Caesar's right hand. Vulpes leads the frumentarii, and is Caesar's left hand (even though he stands at the right). I believe that Vulpes would plant the idea of sedition in Lucius's ear to get the ball rolling. He didn't rise through the ranks without having great powers of manipulation. It would be easy to assassinate Lanius, be in a squad of frumentarii or the Praetorians themselves; Lanius's days would be easily numbered. With the Frumentarii and Praetorians already on Lucius's side (as it's safe to assume in this sequence of thought that Vulpes would be pulling the strings in "Lucius's favor".). It would be a simple change in management.
As to my above speculation, you may wonder: "Why wouldn't Vulpes try to take the Legion himself?" Well, because he's practically a genius. Vulpes would likely know that a good deal of the Legion (especially older low ranking members) likely consider him to be shifty and snakelike (which, he is, but that isn't always a bad thing). He knows that Lucius, on the other hand, is a well loved, well RESPECTED, officer in the Legion. The soldiers would be much more receptive to "HIS" rule. Why the quotes? Because Lucius is easy to manipulate. This is seen if Caesar dies on the operating table; Lucius has an explosion of emotion, but can be quickly calmed by explaining Caesar's old age as a factor. (He seems to have held Caesar in emotional regard, possible a father figure? "Caesar sleeps, but does not awaken. ) Vulpes would pick up on this opportunity, and use Lucius as a figure head; of course, Lucius's own morality would keep Vulpes in check.

Nah, House isn't a ghoul so he can't survive what ever they are trying to go to.
Beside I don't think they actually manage to get off the Earth.
In fact at the ending slides if Novac survives, it's said some of the Bright followers returned to help out.
Probably because they discovered it was a crap place... XD
You'd be surprised how quickly people can go into anarchy...
Though I guess I could see Vulpes, Lucius, Legate Lanius and some others working as joined rulers.
As a senate, like ancient Rome the senate did slowly replace later emperors somewhat. ^^

Lanius is feared...
Caesar says "The troops will be more scared of the commander behind them, then the enemy in front of them" XD
He was capable of killing large Legion patrols by himself before he even joined.
Offcourse the Courier can do that too, but that's a different story.
I often just kill all of the Legion higher command, that's why I say the Legion will grumble after the game.
Kill every last soldier in the Fort, wipe out all Legion camps and kill Lanius.

Sure, he's feared, brutal, and devastating in combat; but that won't save him from a sneak attack. The Frumentarii could easily kill Lanius in the same fashion as Brutus, Cassius, and friends killed Julius Caesar in Shakespeare's play.
Lanius is feared, but "feared" does not equal "popular".
