Description This is a reworking of an earlier drawing I did last year: I had always got the image of the Grim Reaper enjoying his work, it's the epitome of optimism really. So I initially got it down last year (see: [link] ) but I don't think that it justified the concept I had in my head, so I gave it another try and I'm much happier with it this time round. It looks like some kind of funky tarot.

It was inspired by equal amounts of Jamiroquai (British music is currently suffering a distinct lack of funk) and daft punk, which is a nice combination.

As for me, I'm currently packing up all my stuff in preparation for moving house, so my room is a jungle of cardboard boxes, hectic atmosphere always inspires

Wonderful image, and I'm glad to see Death represented as something other than dismal and foreboding. The uncertainty of the after-life has always been a source of apprehension and the root of every religion, but Death is just as much a part of the circle of life as Birth is, and it shouldn't be feared.

I've always wondered how religious people who speak so glowingly about Heavenly rewards and "meeting their creator" can be so anxious about death. If instead of the ominous, shrouded figure so common in literature and art, your version came for us dancing a little jig, it would seem far less frightening.

Very nice work!

Hehe thank you so much for your supportive comments! It means so much!

I think that juxtaposition and subversion are the two of the greatest weapons in an Artists arson, the results are always unconventional and memorable, even if the method of attaining them is quite predictable - take a clichΓ©d concept and turn it on it's arse!

Absolutely well-written and I think more artist should question their intent as you have. It would make for a lot less "conventional" and boring artwork.
