Decided to do one as well. ^^A bunch of artist friends were over this past weekend, and we went through some of my old sketchbooks. It made me really nostalgic to look at my old Sailormoon and Gundam Wing fanart. Sometimes its good to look back and see how far you've come.
There are a few things missing from this meme. I spent a few years drawing still life and oil painting while taking art classes, during this progression. I don't really post my regular art on DA, but that's part of the reason for the jumps you see.
Here's to a better 2010!!

It's always amazing to see artist progress. And since you're one of my fav. I totally loved this.
I think from 2004 to 2005 was the best improvement. It's maybe because of the medium... or maybe Sasuke makes miracles xDD
At any case I'm very happy you have time to draw and progress. Keep with your work, it's great when people have the talent but also spent time to get better.

Where did you attend that allowed an "anime" style? All the teachers I've had and colleges I've looked at have blown me off since my art is "anime-ish," and therefore, in their words, "not real art." :/

I took regular art classes, meaning drawing horses, landscapes, people. etc.
But I dunno, don't get discouraged just because your style is anime-ish. I included anime in my AP art portfolio and still managed to do very well. xD

Yeah, I've taken plenty of art/theater/ceramics classes, so I've got a wide array of stuff I can do, but it would be like...casual asking or them looking at me drawing at the end of class, and I'd get remarks like "that's not real art," so. x__x;;

I got rejected from the art club in my High school two years in a row just cuz I drew anime. Didn't even bother applying the third year (yeah we had to apply, xD, it was called Art Honor Society or w/e). Didn't matter to them that I could draw plenty of other things as well. They saw what they wanted to see. Their loss I guess.
I ended up joining Student Council instead. haha.

Hahaha. I ended up ditching my art club (Which was like....let's sit here in a room for an hour and mat student work club) for drama club. Only school I've ever known with a paint crew. I was a brush nazi. >:0

Take as many art classes as you can. I spent two years just drawing still life. And two more years doing oil painting. Having a strong sense of the fundamentals is really important.

When you take art classes, you improve your observation skills, your technique, and your fundamentals.
