Description In the Dark Mana Galaxy, there once existed a civilization of mysterious and powerful aliens known only as "The Precursors." Little is known of what they looked like or what happened to them. But their ruined cities are scattered across the galaxy; enticing treasure hunters to seek out their ancient technology. These ruins are often guarded by the deadly Sentries. These crystalline "robots" come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The most common are the "flyers" and spider-like "walkers." The distinctive silver spheres possess the brains of the sentries, as well as their mana-tech power core. What makes these sentries dangerous is the fact that the number of silver cores seems to denote the level of "spell caster" power the sentry possesses. The single-sphere flyers are the equivalent of a novice (1st-level) mage, while the walkers, possessing 5 spheres are the equivalent of incredibly-dangerous (5th-level) mages. There have been rumors from some spacers of discovering rare humanoid Sentries with ten spheres and utterly terrifying "war-gigas" Sentries with 20 spheres!

I am loving this.Β  And honestly, they sound like better Inevitables then the actual Inevitables themselves.

Awesome looking robots. I really like that it has that Alien Geometries look to it, like some type of hyper-tech machine creature defined by its disregard for the natural laws of the universe as we understand them. Like a Eldritch Abomination, but less twisted and meaty.

What is Dark Mana Galaxy? Is it a new Sci-Fi/Fantasy universe series? Is it some kind of Sci-Fi/Fantasy universe were all fantasy races (Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, etc. ) have their own home planet, and instated of using futuristic Sci-Fi technology they use magic for all most everything, including space travel. Think medieval civilizations that have become spacefaring civilizations by using magic. Traveling across the galaxy by either using magical wooden sail ships using solar sails, magical portals, summoning or teleportation spells.

Here is an idea.

It would not be ironic if the "Precursors" were technological-based civilization inset of magic using civilizations that inhabit the Dark Mana Galaxy. After all Clarke's Third Laws says that "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." and would make it impossible for anyone, especially magic users, to replicate Precursor Artifacts without turning them into extremally inferior or worthless copies. They are simply lacking the technology, and scientific knowledge and understanding, in order to make such devices.

The Dark Mana setting is going to be my personal campaign setting for the soon-to-be released Starfinder rpg by Paizo.

And, yes, that is exactly what I have in mind for the Precursors.

Can I give you a Lore idea for Dark Mana?

The Dwarves have a deep, almost religious, respect for "Precursors" which they called the "Great Blacksmiths", the "Great Forgers" or the "Forgers of the Great Rings". During their early year of exploring the stars they found a "Precursor Ring World",Β artificial ring withΒ a habitable, flat inner surface, the megastructure about one million miles (1,600,000 km) wide and approximately the diameter of Earth's orbit (which makes it about 600,000,000 miles or 950,000,000 km in circumference), encircling a sunlike star. (like one from the 1970 science fiction novel Ringworld by Larry Niven). Dwarves were already skilled at forging metal, but when they saw the Precursor Ring World they were awe struck, a ring of metal around a star, with lands and seas on inner surface filled with life.

Anyone who tries to become a master blacksmith would give up when seen the impossible huge metal ring circling a star, knowing in their heart of hearts that they never shall able to create ring world themselves. For those who have created the Ring Worlds had to be Gods! But Dwarfs are notorious stubborn, and it was this stone hard stubbornness that made them refuses except defeat, took it as challenge. If it take hundreds or thousands of years, the Dwarfs continued homing their skills in order to become greater blacksmiths than they were, until the day they make a World Ring just as impressive as the ones made by Precursor.
