Description: The Gigantopithecus is a large genus of ape that lived from the early to middle Pleistocene Epoch, this was the largest ape ever to live on the planet, towering over several other creatures that lived during its time, including the species Homo Erectus, mankind's own ancestor. Fossils of this giant ape have been found in Asia, specifically China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, it is likely that the Gigantopithecus thrived in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia during its time. The first fossil of the Gigantopithecus was not actually dug up, but purchased from an apothecary shop in China in 1935, a single tooth, which the Chinese would use fossilized bones and teeth to make ground powder for traditional medicine. And since then, more and more teeth of the Gigantopithecus have been found in Chinese markets, with over 1,300 teeth and about 3 mandibles being recovered by 1958, there are believed to be 3 known species of Gigantopithecus that had lived. By studying the teeth of the Gigantopithecus, we can predict that like its closest living relative, the Orangutans, it was mostly herbivorous, though it is likely that they would have ate something for a source of protein, their teeth and jaws were evolved for chewing and grinding tough, fibrous vegetation, like Bamboo, but they would have also eaten vegetables and fruits as well. It is believed that the Gigantopithecus went extinct due to habitat change, causing the tropical forests to change to savannas, the fruits and other foods the Gigantopithecus ate would have decreased dramatically, being unable to adapt to the change, the Gigantopithecus went extinct. However, in 2019, we were able to study the DNA of the Gigantopithecus from a 1.9 million year old tooth, we now know that the Gigantopithecus and Orangutans had shared a common ancestor, whether they behaved similar is unknown, but studies on this giant ape are continuing to this day.
Mod: Gigantopithecus Remake (Burnt_Gecko) zt2downloadlibrary.fandom.com/…
Personal Thoughts: I like that the Gigantopithecus was introduced to the Zoo Tycoon series in the Extinct Animals expansion pack, I even liked its default model, of course this remake is pretty good too. This kind of makes me wish we could have kept the Bigfoot and Yeti from the first Zoo Tycoon game into Zoo Tycoon 2, I think they could be possible, just done in a different way, like the Bigfoot and Yeti sharing new AI and animations. Anyways, this remake of the Gigantopithecus is really good, it has no bugs or glitches, the modeling and textures are realistic, and it can breed properly.
My Rating: 10/10
