Description NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT FAV MY DEVIATION WITHOUT A COMMENT, I GREATLY PREFER COMMENTS THAT FAVS!

Well at long last the ulitmate weapon of the Zanatorians: The Avatar is completed and ready to be unleashed against the foes of the machine cult! He'll of course be representing a Lord Of Change for the Daemons and Nightbringer for Necrons.

I decided to go with a 60mm base over the 40mm for purposes of it representing the Lord of Change and eventually the base crew to be very cinematic. He's on of my best models to date.

Special thanks to a friend of mine who instructed and assisted me in the modeling of the green stuff on the model. I've learnt a lot of new skills when making this model another being painting black robes.

Now he is off to GW Lincoln tommorrow to be displayed in the cabinet with the rest of the generals for the summer army painting contest.

Awesomely done!
Based it on the Necromancer from LotR?
with a Necron torso and, what, a modded Space Marine helmet?

Very much inspiring to try a similar conversion.. just 'cause it's that awesome

Any connection to the Dark Mechanicus from the novel Dark Adeptus?
Also, what did you use for the wings? They're a perfect example of that makes this an outstanding conversion!

that is because the machine god is a c'tan called the void dragon, who feeds on machinery, thus he founded the adeptus mechanicus, he was the "dragon of mars" that was imprisoned by the god emperor of the cannon fodder that is the imperium of man. if this is correct, please give thanks to a guy who failed to gain control medusa V for the deceiver. if not, i'm flakked. *klink*

Yes, I'm aware of that bit of fluff, hence the ""

AdMech worship a god at the centre of Mars
Necron Codex- Last known location of Void Dragon: Mars.

HMMM.

wow such an amazing piece
ive only dreamed of ad mech miniatures like this

just afew points..
the arms are rather short and the tiny hands do little justice to the characters air of power. i would think the character should be imagined as droid like like lanky but gracefull looking machine of the gods.he looks like a midget in a cape with wings.
no offence meant im just trying to share my ideas of the adeptus mechanicus look.

the helmet with the three lenses, good choice, has a very symbolic depth to it, toll the great bell once... toll the great bell twice... toll the great bell thrice...

very ad mechy. though some extra thought to the filter on the helmet could've been made to give it even more of a unique air to it.

either way its an astounding piece of craftsmanship and creativity.
great job :]

NO!!! This is what the Void Dragon Looks like? Its beyond my wildest dreams! AMAZING, simply amazing...i cant wait to see that integrated in Dawn of War..mainly becouse it will mean the utter anihilation of Mars when he is released..which will be incredibly entertaining to see *that* bastion of the Imperium fall so brutaly, so close to Holly Terra itself...and it may very well be the campaign for the Necrontyr in their Dawn of War II expansion. I love it, i just love it. Great work!

building it up layer by layer adding larger amount of shadow grey to chaos black before a wash of black.

Proiteus In reply to Eon-II [2010-02-21 12:14:49 +0000 UTC]

Its how blending works, I've used it on my current projects: [link] [link]
1. Apply basecoat.
2. Add a large amount of wash of it.
3. Build up layers avoiding the darkest creases from the wash.
4. Apply a 2nd thin amount of wash, this helps blend the layers together.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Eon-II In reply to Proiteus [2010-02-21 12:29:38 +0000 UTC]

Do you wait until the wash from 2. is dry before moving onto 3. or does that just stop it blending?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Proiteus In reply to Eon-II [2010-02-21 13:37:28 +0000 UTC]

leave time between stages for the washs and paint to dry.
