Nations of the Solar System, prior to the Month of Madness

When mankind began reaching into the depths of space for the first time, they made a profound discovery which would change the course of history. The worlds of the Solar System were not just habitable, they were downright tempting… In only a few short years, their nations came together to form ideological blocs, built advanced rocketships, and sent men to claim these newly discovered lands.

Thus began the Space Race, the last great human endeavor which would last for over a century. First was Venus, a world of swamps, jungles, and nutrient-rich soil. Then Mars, a dry desert planet riddled with great serpents swimming beneath its sands. Luna became a hub for space industry and transportation, Titan would be mined for its precious Alloy, and Europa’s oceans were scoured for genetic material from its unique and diverse lifeforms.

During this time, their civilization rose to the heights of technological progress. Mankind constructed colossal machines which roamed their planets, massive structures to harvest and dispatch resources, and digital intelligences to enable their civilizations to flourish. They were the masters of the universe, and no one, nothing could stop them.

The Month of Madness occurred sometime in the late 21st century - a complete digital blackout, loss of memory, and control. What happened during this time is unknown, as very little information remains. All that is known is that before the Month of Madness, humans thrived in the Solar System, and after it, no trace of humanity remained.

The Era of No Input had begun.

Here are some “stats” I compiled that break each nation down to its most prominent features. I wanted to include them in the infographic, but it didn’t quite fit in, so here they are!

Union:

Technology: Genetic engineering, Weather manipulation
Advantages: Food production, Military size
Primary claims: Venus, Europa

Coalition:

Technology: Sonic mining, Advanced rocketry
Advantages: Raw material extraction, Trade infrastructure, Power projection
Primary claims: Mercury, Titan

Pact:

Technology: Gravity manipulation, Metamaterials
Advantages: High-tech manufacturing, Scientific edge
Primary claims: Luna, Mars
