Description I hate this scanner...the words on the other side shouldn't have shown through!!

This is a ROUGH SKETCH of Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus, as she would appear to Ferratans (or how Ferratans see her).

If the Blessed Mother ever performed a Marian Apparition to the Ferratan people, this is how she'd have to appear in order to appeal to them. She is traditionally dressed as a Ferratan Matriarch and Railroad Baroness, and wears the high-waisted Tri-Skirt. She also carries the Blade of a Matriarch.

Over the centuries, Mary has been "reimagined" by various cultures so that people could more easily identify with her and her Son. Medieval and Renaissance painters depicted her dressed as a queen from their time and culture, and Our Lady of Guadalupe looks like a native Mexican.

Ferrata is the world I've created - for more insight check the comments for my Thundermare DVD cover.

I tried to incorporate elements from Mary's other apparitions and descriptions in the Bible - the twelve spikes on her headband represent the twelve stars that the Book of Revelation says Mary is crowned with (I also put them on the middle section of her duty-skirt), along with a few Crosses here and there.

Umm...a Klingon mind-sifter?

You'll understand once you watch "Errand of Mercy."

I watched part of it, but my internet kept freezing; Seltaya's been downloading a bunch of stuff, and he fixed the router to feed most of its power into his computer - thus, when he downloads, my internet crashes.

Maybe, but I really don't think Jesus would mind if there were woman priests, and it took an awful long time for them to even let girls become alter-servers.

My mom's not saying the Church is sexist, I can't speak for her obviously and I'm probably skewing her words, but we've been a part of some parishes that just...you get the idea.

There's no "maybe" about it. And I think He would mind - priests are supposed to be dudes. But the Faith says that women can hold all sorts of other high-ranking positions in the Church...why would they want to be priests anyway? I think some people just want women to be priests just to screw with the Faith - they have no real desire to be priests, they just want to do things they feel will "ruin" something.

Again, those are people. That doesn't make the Faith wrong.

No he wouldn't; Jesus is down with the ladies. He's totally pimp. I'm mean, seriously, just look at what the Pope wears; either he's gay or that outfit was meant for a woman!

I know Jesus is down with the ladies, but hating or liking women has nothing to do with them not being priests, dammit! Gah, how many times do I have to say it...

Hm. I've never seen a Marian picture with that much...attitude, though.

Thanks Helen!!

Yeah, the Virgin Mary would have to have some dominant attitude to appeal to Ferratans; in their culture, "meek" and "lowly" equate to "spinelessness," and if there's one thing that Ferratans hold in contempt, it's spinelessness...

Well, she's oftentimes depicted as stomping on a serpant (Satan) with her bare foot, so...

Interesting idea

But, why did you draw on a paper that had already been used for something? Because it's sad that the words shine through

Well, I drew this in the car driving home to Pennsylvania, and it was the only paper I had.
