Description
Name: Isaac StriderAge: 49
Height/Weight: 6'3/224 lbs
Hometown/Region: Olivine City, Johto
Military Faction: Army
Extra items: Large machete, (sometimes two, depending on his mood)
Personality:
Isaac Strider is a man who thinks of himself first, and blames others for things that go wrong in his life. For the most part, if your presence doesn't directly benefit him in any way, you are at the very least an annoyance, and at worst an obstruction that must be removed. Get in his way, and he will indiscriminately proceed to try and deal with you. Even though he can- on extremely, EXTREMELY rare occasions- share a laugh with someone, he doesn't hold friendship to much value, and thinks that he's better off without any.
Isaac isn't a constant drinker, but when he occasionally DOES drink, he takes it to extremes. He reaches a stage where he's aggressive toward anything and everything that moves, though in his defense, he is mostly only verbally aggressive than physically.
He doesn't have any problem with Pokemon, but he sees the recent military use of them for combat as cowardly tactics which take away from the experience, and the way that he makes use of Ignus reflects this.
Backstory:
Isaac had signed up for the great war when he was still a teenager, keen to fight for his country. 'Unfortunately' for him, the war ended relatively quickly, and he hadn't had much chance to get involved in the action. This really displeased him. Even though he was upset about the matter, he was still happy that he had managed to come out of it alive. The joy of being alive lead him to get involved in a steady relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Marcy. Less than two years followed, and they got married.
The two waited a few years before they decided to try for a baby, and then along came Aleister. At first Isaac was elated to be a father, and gladly took up his duties, but as the years went on, he began to start thinking of his family as something that was holding him back. At first he ignored the feeling, but over time it grew and ate at him. Eventually his family felt like a heavy set of shackles, restricting everything he did, and his demeanor became colder and colder toward them. It reached the point where he'd barely share a word with his wife or son, and he usually wore an irritated expression. The change in his behavior over time made Marcy chronically depressed, and soon she too rarely spoke. Surrounded by silence, his son, Aleister, emotionally gave up and went down his own spiral into darkness.
After the murder of a local boy and the disappearance, Isaac's mood got worse. He had happened to see the fight that Aleister had had with the dead boy, ignored it and left, so he knew that what had happened was his son's doing. Frustrated that he knew he wouldn't be able to find the boy, he didn't act on it, figuring that the lonely world would probably do worse to him than Isaac ever could.
When Isaac caught wind of the beginnings of a new war, he began to prepare to fight for his country once more. Ignoring his wife's pleas to not take part in the war (as she had already lost a son) Isaac signed up for the army, hoping to get more involved in this one than he had been in the last.
Pokemon:
Name: Ignus | Species: Magmar | Nature: Hardy| Ability: Flame Body |Gender: Male
Personality:
To any outsider, Ignus would seem to be neutral in the purest sense of the word, he rarely reacts strongly to anything. He is, however, extremely observant. Taking in everything he sees and learning as much as he can from whoever or what ever is around him. In combat, Ignus follows orders to a T, and implements the orders given to him by Isaac as closely as possible.
Ignus' role in combat is to separate the pokemon from their partner, and either dispatch of them one-on-one, or stall them for as much time as it would take Isaac to put down the human trainer, and make the fight two-on-one. In larger scale combat, Ignus' role is to disorientate the enemy so that they can be taken care of easier, Isaac has given him specific permission to give any allied pokemon that get in his way a quick burst of his flamethrower. Whether or not Isaac was joking, Ignus would immediately follow the order. Odds are Isaac wasn't joking anyway.
Backstory:
Ignus had lived on his own on the heated volcanic area of Cinibar before he was uprooted from his home to be used in the war. The speed at which he became compliant to orders slightly confused those who trained him, but they shrugged it off and considered his obedience to be out of fear- which was wrong. When he was put into Isaac's care, Isaac couldn't have gotten a better partner, he took care of himself and listened to what he was told.
Pokemon:
Name: Trash | Species: Cottonee | Nature: Modest | Ability: Prankster |Gender: Female
Personality:
Naturally shy toward others and easily panicked. It takes Trash a while to trust others, but grows strongly attached to anyone she does manage to.
UPDATE: Following the Undella bay battle, Trash has become far less trusting as well as more jittery and aggressive.
Backstory:
Trash was picked up along with most of her group to be utilized in the army. Not showing much promise by the way of battle, little hope was spared for her, and her usefulness was questioned. Because of Ignus' affinity for following orders, and Isaac's affinity for battle in general, he was given Trash as a way to hopefully increase her output and ferocity just by being around the two. Isaac was not pleased with this in the slightest and made many demands to receive a replacement pokemon. After having his requests repeatedly denied, grating away at Trash's self confidence in the process, he decided that he might as well make the most out of the situation and try to get Trash to be somewhat competent. The reason he gave her the nickname was because; "Until you can fight, that's what you are, trash. And until you show me that you are able to fight, that will be your name, 'Trash'." Needless to say, Trash isn't overly fond of Isaac, but she also really wants to be useful so she can get his respect, as well as lose the name.
UPDATE: Trash did prove to be useful during the Undella bay battle, but once Isaac noticed that she had learned Frustration, decided to keep the name with her as a way to keep Frustration at it's strongest. The continuous stress Trash goes through has caused her fur to by much coarser than it normally would be, and it constantly falls out.
Pokemon:
Name: Smiley | Species: Kecleon | Nature: Naughty | Ability: Colour Change |Gender: Male
Personality:
Smiley is a mischievous Kecleon most of the time. Constantly doing things to intentionally get under people's skin. He will lick people's faces, relocate their belongings etc. In battle he prefers to sneakily weaken opponents utilising his ability to make himself almost completely transparent, but if in the presence of a weakened enemy, he will take a more aggressive approach and try to down them, and eat them. (He has small serrated teeth).
Notes:
-Smiley is actually the only pokemon on Isaac's team that he even remotely likes. Whilst he does value Ignus, he sees him more as a business partner than someone to like. And Trash is... well the name says it all. Isaac shows this by turning a blind eye to Smiley's shenanigans.
-Smiley's toxic spit is actually highly flamable. He performs combination attacks with Ignus this way.
-Smiley uses his tongue for his sucker punch and bind attacks. Enjoy the mental image.

Sorry if this question is horrible and/or spamed like no other but the Great War? Is the war Surge was supposed to be part of?

The End Run universe doesn't use the game/series canon, it has it's own. if you're interested, you should read up on it. [link]

Strange. My name is the same as the character's, and I'm somewhat antisocial, but my attitude is reflected in the Pokemon. I like this, for obvious reasons.
So good job!
