Yeah, I've been in hiding for like a month. I can finally surface now that my latest endeavor is finally close to a demo state. A year ago, I experimented with XCOM 2 modding, but it was a four week process just to get the basics down. After some burn out I didn't touch it again until recently. XCOM 1/2 have got to be the last games that I truly appreciate from a mechanics standpoint, so I've still continued to want to merge favorite concepts with the game and so much credit goes to Firaxis for making XCOM 2 such an open platform in favor of modding communities. It's totally a different mindset of how to do things in contrast to years' experience of DOA modding. If anything it should be easier with access to development tools, but it still has taken quite a bit of trial and error to learn nuances of proper structures, hair physics and material application.For now, this is a just a sample, but under the surface there is already 3+ weeks worth of work that has gone into this. It's a full character model, custom imported weapons, armor stats. I still have some visual fixes to do, but the hardest work is done. I still have to complete the custom class abilities, do some voice mods and add the other hammer variants.
As my renders may have indicated, many of my favorite characters include some military style themes. DOA does not have much opportunity in the realm of projectiles, so mods have always felt a bit limited in how much I could make characters fit their full potential into a fighting game. XCOM has much to offer based on built in abilities, so I'm looking forward to moving some past ideas into the engine, time permitting. Rachel has only had one level in total that she could use her rifle, outside of multiplayer or a guest appearance in Warriors Orochi. Because of that, the move makes sense. XCOM even has a grapple ability which totally jives with her character. She's a naturally fit with her range and melee capabilities. Stay tuned!

Wow dude, that's awesome! Now your disappearance all makes sense! Props for all the hard work! I know that must have been a beast of a project. You planning to add some of your other characters?

Thanks! Yeah, still is, I feel that it's maybe 2/3 done. I definitely want to add more that I've used in renders, hopefully they go quicker than the first one once I finally get there.
