Development Backstory: This is my first deep dive into XCOM 2 modding After a month long study session followed by a year break, then yet another month of work, I've neared completion on a full character mod for XCOM 2. As my art suggests, Rachel is a favorite and prime contender for my first actual project. In contrast to the XCOM mods I've seen, with exception of those made by skilled teams, I think this will be worthy of the typical Protocol X27 stamp of quality. Many props to Firaxis in crafting a mod friendly platform for XCOM's design, because other than a few tutorials and cursory searches, I've been able to slog through this process without depending community questions, delays, tool creation and file research.
Although I've spent years on DOA modding, a couple aspects did not add up. 1) Placing other characters as shells atop other existing characters still created a bit of a jarring continuity. 2) Fighting games are a limited engine to actually fully implement characters with ranged capabilities, plus not being able to fully customize fight styles also does a disservice to the character being added. Thankfully, XCOM's primary character base uses personality-less shells that gain attachment through the player experience and not the franchise's lore itself. This is a perfect opportunity to overlay existing characters with a host of options to match their existing personalities and styles as long as there is a reasonable combat overlap. (I wouldn't exactly mod in a pro wrestler and shove an assault rife at him if it didn't fit the character)
Additionally, it's a nice bonus to expand on existing characters that may already be limited in their existing appearances given
XCOM is already heavily inspired by many existing franchises. It's also even possible to create the dream team, not otherwise possible outside of limited (and I mean LIMITED) 'create a character' modes of other games. I had apsirations for game development in a former decade, so if I were to make a game it'd be rather structurally close to XCOM. So, since I don't need to reinvent the wheel, it's time to make the crossover ideas a reality in an awesome engine, even if it means to settle scores with some dopey aliens,
Mod Synopsis: Includes Rachel as a Fiend Slayer Class with Slayer & Hunter branches which are remixed skills from existing classes. Includes Rachel's signature rifle and hammers. Includes 3 Armors: 2 Variations of Rachel's Default costume and 1 Custom Concept all of which include a Grapple Ability. Rachel's (fictious) country of origin, Vigoor is added with her rose tattoo for the flag. Includes custom icons for all Armor & Weapon inventory elements.
Updates: Since the prototype, I've fixed materials, the face mesh, improved the hair, added costumes and started on class skills.

The picture to the right is what happens when the Avenger is under siege and one of the soldiers had to run directly from the showers to defend the base.

Oh, I see you've been able to align the gun properly now. And I see an improvement in her facial expression. I dunno, something about the previous XCOM rachel's face looked....... 'odd'.

Thanks, not sure if you mean, my first post or the other Rachel mod floating about mod repositories. My default was a bit weird.... but dat other one.... 'odd' would be putting it mildly
There's an inherent challenge with the overriding the game's force inclusion of default faces, so I understand why someone would have tried to use the existing one. :-/
