I still think his first class speech "... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death -- if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach." was going to really mean something when I read his death... and he was going to reapear somewhere... I'm still waiting.

Snape's fate at the end of DH was one of the many out-of-character things that occurred in that book. I refuse to believe it regardless of how "canon" it is.

Hey! I can't believe I didn't see this one before. You're completely right. I always thought that it was stupid that a Potion's Master wouldn't have an antivenom flask at hand, especially knowing that Voldemort always carried his snake around...

He was always one step ahead of everyone else too, why WOULDN'T he be prepared for any outcome that might result in his highly dangerous work in close proximity to Voldemort. I actually find this more believable than what really happened story-wise.
Initially I just went into total denial, to tell you the truth, but your drawing actually gives a logical conclusion to Snape's story better than the actual one AND it makes sense. Excellent!

OK, I've found the image, but it's at a pretty low resolution for a print. I can slate it for a re-work in the near future. After all, I have changed how I draw him a bit, and there are a few things in this image I'd like to alter slightly. If you're able to wait a few weeks, I can have a 2011 version done, and I'll make sure the print option is available when I upload it.

I have no doubt he came prepped. Easiest way to fake your own death. now he'll never have to deal with Weasleys, Potters, or frizzy haired know-it-alls again! It's nice to imagine he's still out there, somewhere in the world, enjoying a well-earned break from death eater duties and the never-ending list of thankless tasks from Dumbledore.
I can just imagine a post-DH Quibbler headline: "Severus Snape spotted!" along with a blurry picture of a greasy haired man with a crooked nose sipping a drink whilst lying on a beach, a slightly surprised expression on his face as he notices the clicking camera a second too late..
