Description
This is free for anybody to use. Big thanks to everyone that has added it to their favourites! How to use this action:
There is a file included that says how the action should be used, but it isn't completely correct, so here is the full how-to.
- Open an image in Photoshop
- Run Part 1 of the action
- Select a sharpness that you think looks good
- Click on the layer mask on the layer between the Levels layer and the Brightness/Contrast layer (if you have opened an image straight into Photoshop this should be called Layer 1)
- Select a black round brush big enough to cover all of the image but the corners at around 20% opacity
- Click on the centre of the image. Repeat until you are happy with the saturation
- Click on the very top layer
- Press cmd+alt+shift+e (Mac) or ctrl+alt+shift+e (PC)
- Rename the layer 'Layer 7'
- Run part two of the action
- Done
Enjoy!

Hi, I can use it now on CS5 with editing atn file by Binary editor. change "CS3" to "CS5", and delete "(x86)" word and pad "00" the same amount you deleted before "TEXT", beggining from x'0CD2'. If you don't understand, contact me -> solaponz*voila.fr

I love this action but still cannot get it to work right in CS5. I followed your instructions and deleted the black and white layer and rerecorded it. Now it goes through the rest of the steps but ends up much lighter than yours. I went back in and painted gray in the center of the B&W mask, but I don't have a solid black layer in mine to make into a vignette. Can you tell me where it should be? I tried experimenting with putting one in and it looks all wrong! Also, for the said black layer, what setting and opacity level did you use? Thanks so much for your help! Julie

you have to change the folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Black and White\Green Filter.blw. i just put a folder out there on my computer for CS3 and just copied the CS5 presets folder into it

I will try and re-record it today but if you wanted to use it now you could try and do what Yorcie suggested?

"where the action is stopping, I.E. the step 5 in CS5
This is the one that reads:
Make Adjustment Layer
- Using: adjustment layer
- Type: black and white
- Preset Kind: factory preset
- Using C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Black and White\Green Filter.blw
What you need to do is Delete that part of the action (pick it up and drag it to the bin)
Then press the record button
Now
1) Make a new Black and White adjustment layer
2) change the custom to Green layer
Stop recording...
make sure you test this on a freshly opened image (or delete what you have done on the image you have open)
and start the action again..."

Does not work on CS5 because of a "make an adjustment layer step"
- Make Adjustment Layer
- Using: adjustment layer
- Type: black and white
- Preset Kind: factory preset
- Using C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Black and White\Green Filter.blw
This is an issue for CS5 as the directory will never exist. How can I re-record this portion???

JeezyDeezy In reply to ??? [2011-10-29 19:56:39 +0000 UTC]
Bummer! When I got to the 5th layer (Black & White 1), I got the following error message:
'Could not complete the command because actions that reference files can only be played on the same platform on which they were recorded.'
If I knew what that meant, perhaps I could ammend it. I just love this action, I used to use it on my old laptop, it seems to have changed though... hoping for a fix soon.
