Description Racine Zoo - 09/05/2004

Of course, what would such a collection be, if it didn't have a couple of tigers in it. It's moments like these that make you wonder how they can be so dangerous to people.

Hehe. Yeah, it's the look on the one tiger's face that really makes gives this picture it's character. He just makes you want to give him a big hug or something.

Thanks for the comments.

I love this series, but this one has got to be my favorite. You must live at the zoo to get all these wonderful shots.

*laughs* I wish I lived at the zoo. No, I only go once every 3 to 4 weeks or so. But when I do go, I'll spend a lot of time at a single enclosure. A trip to the zoo will often last over 6 hours for me, because I'll spend 20 minutes at the tiger enclosure if they are awake. Yeah, I may be missing something else happening elsewhere in the zoo, but patience is the key. You have to pick and choose your subjects, rather than trying to get some of everything each time.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the series.

He! He! Hey what ever you doing, it seems to be working. I think the animals just see you coming with the camera, and start striking a pose.

*laughs* It would be so great if that were the case. They need to know how to put on a show when people come by. heh. Better yet, would be if the animals let me into their enclosures to get those shots that you just can't get from the designated viewing spots.

Heh. Yeah, I guess some people might like prints, but that would require me giving Deviant Art another $25 for the service, and then 50% of any profit. Besides, then it would start to feel more like a business and less like fun.

Everyone wants to survive.

Great shot, great capture.

*chuckles* Well, that's why we have scary things like sharks and alligators. We shouldn't have to worry about survival against something as adorable as the big cats.

Thanks for the compliments on the picture.

And to answer your question, the picture was taken at a small, local zoo in Racine, Wisconsin. It's expecially nice, because it's a free zoo. The only drawback is that it is on the smaller side, so if I'm really in an ambitious mood to do some photography, I opt for one of the larger zoos instead.

if they have animals like tigers and giraffes it can't be that small
but that's awesome that it's free

Prowler7 In reply to ChasingEchoes [2005-06-03 04:14:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I guess you can almost call it a medium-sized zoo. I've been to other small zoos that had less than this one. Here they at least have lions and tigers and bears. *laughs*

It really is a nice zoo for it's size, but outside of the main attraction animals, the rest of the zoo is mostly good for just stretching your legs and walking around.

Yeah, we need to find some way to reduced the deadliness of such cute animals. But until then, I guess we'll have to settle for pictures.
