Description EDIT 2: I REDREW THIS IN AUGUST 2017 AND I REGRET A LOT OF THINGS

EDIT: holy shit why do you guys like this so much

"Whose life is that..."
"...you hold in your hands?"

My bad titling skills prevail yet again as I spend 5 minutes sitting in front of a computer screen thinking of a non-cheesy-yet-mysterious title to name another finished drawing.

As usual, I fail.

Anyhow, this is my attempt at drawing an Enderman. I've never actually tried to for exactly one reason:
I'm absolutely horrendous at shading black. I'm the worst. I can't ever, ever, shade, highlight, draw, or do anything with black.
Or at least, that applies to my colored pencil skills, apparently. I'm still shaky with drawing with black, digital art-wise, but I think I've improved here, or at least somewhat.

I think this turned out better than I anticipated, which is nice. The crystal is probably my favorite part of the drawing, and for once I didn't just spam way too many luminosity layers than necessary. Also, 'Crystal of the Sky' refers to the biome name of the End Dimension being called 'Sky'.Β
Or something.
I'll shut up now because I know if I put every single thing I want to say here, the description will be twice as long as it is already.Β

Be sure to download to view in HD, in such high definition so you can cast your eyes upon the tiny little mistakes that will make you hate this drawing! You're welcome.

Edit: Woah, so many comments! Thanks!

Β This art is quite detailed- as a digital realism artistΒ much as you appear to be, it has drawn my attention! I absolutely adore the eyes and the illumination of the crystal that is cast upon the Enderman's dark body, it really does bring it to life! The shadow of the left forearm does seem to give it a beautiful touch, too!

Β I viewed the full size of the image-Β I see that it is very large and detailed with a wide range of pixels. You must have quite an experience as an artist, from what I can tell from this drawing compared to the rest of the drawings you have. You have made my day with this beautiful piece of art, thank you!

Thank you! This was basically meant to be a practice on colored lighting sources. It's nice to hear that I've accomplished that to a decent extent.

I've been working with my tablet for over a year, but I've only gotten into paintings like this recently. In the past I have done other lineless works, but just not one/few-layer paintings.Β

Haha, you're welcome! Thanks for the very detailed response; it made my day as well!

Β You're welcome- I just love digital artists who know how to illuminate things well! So, you've had a tablet for about a year? You're doing quite well, if so- I'm just about the only one online who does advanced digital art and backgrounds using a very old HP mouse. I've been at it for about four years in total, it's amazing how human hands can adapt to something so strange and do marvelous works with it.Β

Β You're doing well with your tablet, by the way! A year is such a short amount of time toΒ maneuver to figure out how to drawΒ such detailed and in-depth paintings. ^ ^

(Sorry for the late reply; I've been so caught up in homework haha)
Β
Yeah, I've had my intuos for almost two years now (since Jan 2014). Β Wow, you use a mouse? That's pretty impressive. O_O Your lineart's pretty steady considering that fact.Β
I used to be okay with a mouse until they changed MS Paint in the newer windows editions. Plus I started using a tablet so my old mouse skills faded away. Β

Thank you! Well, I had more free time to draw last year, haha. I probably won't improve as much this year because my new school gives out so much busy work. School is great.Β

Β I never knew that other people used mouses or 'mice' for art- I honestly thought I was the only one.Β The factor that I use the mouse for drawing has completely changed everything. It's made my right side [of my whole body] dominant. It's quite strange... So, speaking of- what programs do you use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Proxentauri In reply to FNAFanimeHobbit [2015-10-31 01:07:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think most people that use mice never get a lot of attention, because it's very hard to create good-quality art using a mouse. A lot of people that use a mouse use it because they can't get a tablet, which is generally preferred for greater control and stability (and, of course, pressure sensitivity). Oh wow, that's strange. Your brain probably concentrates so much on drawing with a mouse and gains more experience with your right hand that you end up unintentionally doing everything else with your right side as well.Β
I use Paint Tool SAI. It's a great art software with some really nice brushes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FNAFanimeHobbit In reply to Proxentauri [2015-10-31 03:39:51 +0000 UTC]

Β Yes, it is strange- I also think that another thing that may affect my 'right-dominance' issue and how I've gotten used to the mouse so much is because I was diagnosed with Autism when I was very little. Having this disorder, I had begun to get used to many things and never separate from them. After drawing with aΒ mouse for four years, I had finally found programs using pressure sensitivity made for the mouse to use.

Proxentauri In reply to FNAFanimeHobbit [2015-11-01 19:48:41 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. That's probably part of it. I didn't know there were pressure sensitive programs for the mouse, though! What are they called?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FNAFanimeHobbit In reply to Proxentauri [2015-11-01 22:31:49 +0000 UTC]

Β I know two of them- one called onemotion.com, Sketch & Paint - And the other is PsykoPaint.com. Both of them are websites. Onemotion.com has better sensitivity, though. I just use the other one for special brush effects and lighting. onemotion.com is the program I usually use for the first stages and sketches of a painting.

Proxentauri In reply to FNAFanimeHobbit [2015-11-05 18:33:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I've got to check those out sometime. I didn't know pressure sensitivity with a mouse was even possible O_o
Ah, I see. Out of curiosity, have you ever considered getting a tablet? Or do you just prefer a mouse because you're more familiar with it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FNAFanimeHobbit In reply to Proxentauri [2015-11-05 23:52:59 +0000 UTC]

Β I use a mouse because I seem to be far more familiar with it. The tablet just seemed... off for my hands. I can still draw normally with a pencil, it's just that the tablet just isn't built for my already adjusted hands.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Proxentauri In reply to FNAFanimeHobbit [2015-11-07 04:07:22 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. Huh. Does your hand shake when you draw with a mouse? Like, do the lines sometimes look squiggly? My mouse-drawn ones always look shaky

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FNAFanimeHobbit In reply to Proxentauri [2015-11-07 05:58:42 +0000 UTC]

Β No, not much. When it comes to ridiculously basic high-sensitivity pressure programs like Windows Paint, yes. It always shakes at that high of a sensitivity. When it comes to the programs that are used for real art, no, it doesn't usually shake- looks just like a tablet did it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Proxentauri In reply to FNAFanimeHobbit [2015-11-07 20:00:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's probably because you've had so much practice. I used to use Paint for my art when I first got into digital, and it was impossible to draw anything without using the line tool. Yeah, it does! Coloring is harder than lineart, though. It's harder to get away with blending.Β

Proxentauri In reply to AliciaMyerscough [2015-09-08 13:04:36 +0000 UTC]

Pfft, nonsense
In comparison to your rendering and 3D modeling skills I can't even figure out how to make a model aligned with the x plane

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliciaMyerscough In reply to Proxentauri [2015-09-08 13:07:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but difference is, anyone, with patience, can learn how to model and render etc, where as, with drawing you always see people are really good and naturally talented at it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Proxentauri In reply to AliciaMyerscough [2015-09-08 13:24:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but it really does also take a lot of patience which is something I a lot of people don't have
TBH drawing's really just years and years of practice XD
There's some people that start out not knowing how to draw at all but they take art classes and become professional artists, but it also takes a lot of patience. I bet you could draw really well if you did Β
You should see some of the stuff I drew in 6th grade...it's so bad.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliciaMyerscough In reply to Proxentauri [2015-09-08 13:40:41 +0000 UTC]

Well yeah, I did art for my high school exams and I got a B in it but I stayed well away from drawing because I know I would've failed xD

But with rendering it's like, add a few steves here and there, make a scene etc, personally I think it's just more time consuming then anything, and anyone could do it, but obviously you do get better at it over time..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Proxentauri In reply to AliciaMyerscough [2015-09-08 23:36:58 +0000 UTC]

I'm taking computer graphics this year as a freshman, and today I walked into the classroom and the teacher basically told us that it was Photoshop class, which I'm pretty sure takes no artistic skills whatsoever lol
Pfft if you got B you definitely didn't fail XD

Yeah, renders are time consuming, with all the modeling and texturing, aren't they O_O
I'd actually like to learn how to make renders someday. I do 2d animating (which is a total pain, tbh) but I'm actually sort of interested in learning 3D stuff. Too bad my school doesn't offer it as a course
