Ariel is supposed to be white and red headed, it was written in Denmark, in a time when black people was a rarity in that country, most of the inhabitants where white, blonde and redheads, the author never meant her to be of any other ethnicity

Ariel was not redheaded in the original story, thats a Disney change. In all versions before Disneys animated film, she was either blonde or brunette.

Moana is based on real group of people of color. Ariel is a fictional creature. These are not the same. Mermaids can be any damn color anyone wants to make them because theyre not real. She doesn't need to be white. She never needed to be.

There was a movie called Gods of Egypt that has a large bit of the cast played by white people, and people flipped because Egypt is in africa and Egyptians arent white. The other one I can think of is Ghost in the Shell. There was tons of backlash for ScarJo playing Major. Oh also the Ancient One in Doctor Strange. Asian in the comics, a white woman in the MCU. That caused a huge mess too. So yeah, people minded and it was still bad.

My apologies, I was being facetious. I was talking about when England took over Ireland. The Irish were primarily Catholic, so the English stripped down all of their rights and soveignty, on account of religion. An entire group of white people, the Irish, were oppressed because of simple religion.
