Description Just noodling around with my cheapo graphire tablet. This was practice with TheGimp since I have been denied Photoshop and thus had to learn new software. And using 20 bazillion layers. I admit it, I'm a layer addict.

I can't take credit for the lineart - that's all thanks to the far more talented ~MonStarling .

See the original lineart --->Here <-----

Tools: The Gimp, Graphire tablet, lots of time, and a wrist brace
Time: Give or take 12 hours. I usually work on things like this in spurts between other projects.

Lineart © MonStarling
Howl's Moving Castle © Diana Wynne Jones/Hayao Miyazaki

Edit: I suddenly realized that I missed a spot. Damn.

I think I have a layer problems. As in I love them entirely too much and they make my files entirely too big. I really have to learn how to minimize how many layers I use. This picture had, I believe 37 layers. It was problematic after a while ( though I was a good girl and layered them properly).

and ARG to that missed spot. Honestly. Oh well, now Howl has a magical floating hand.

one thing I miss from Photoshop that Gimp doesn't have is the ability to make sub folders in your layers so you can group like layers together for easier navigation

The book is amazing. I have a hard time deciding which I love more, actually. The movie might edge out the book just because it makes me feel like a 6 year old inside and that's pretty hard to do. Then again the book might win because it's much more complex. I guess I'll never know.

Ohhh freaking heck! I am going to have to go to the library tomorrow and pray to god that it is there. Looking at that picture makes me want to watch the movie for like the 100th time..lol But you did a very lovely job on the picture, one of the best I have seen on here.
