I'm not a great fan of this, but at the same time... it was mostly just experimentation, and I wasn't keeping errors in check, and I changed the shading halfway through, and then I got bored.
I had the eyes really nice at one point. But then I tried something else and screwed it all up beyond Ctrl+z. Sigh.
Either way, thanks to this, I have a few more ideas on how I might like to do things, so I can try them on the next picture (which hopefully I'll be much happier with).

I think the eyes could work fine that big! It's more the angle. I think that's more how it'd look from the front, or maybe a 3/4 angle given how it tilts. Maybe if the eye was less wide?
And I'm really curious about what you did that made it look really nice.
Shouldn't be typing at 1am, kept on using plurals to refer to that one eye ~_~

The eyes look a bit like the Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy style- the hand drawn character models in particular.
