I like chocobos. Not as much as stoats, but I like them nonetheless!I've also been drawing them a lot recently (like when I'm supposed to be taking notes in lectures...), but haven't ever really drawn a picture worth showing off.
And that's still true!
However, for some reason, I made this simple infinite loop of a chocobo walking. It's incredibly pointless.
It was a test of some things more than anything, and an attempt at drawing a chocobo in Flash and animating it. It's not animated particularly well though, since I'm not a particularly good animator. Hm.
Chocobos are copyrighted to Square-Enix, of course!

the reflection is so bizzarre, since you faded each individual body part, they become see-through and it's so weird. but a cool style, nontheless.

One thing I noticed, you can see through the reflection's body to see the back leg, but its not a huge problem or anything, just amusing.

Oh, but all reflections in real life work like that, don't they? I mean, if you stand so that your side faces a pool of water, and look at your reflection, you'll be able to see your other leg through the leg nearest to the water! Or... something.

Nope. I've never done a multimedia class thing in my life.
Everything I know about Flash I learned myself, and animation is just common sense, really.

I'd have no reason to. Anything I'd want to learn from it I've already learned myself, or could learn in my spare time if I wanted to (since I learn better independently rather than when I'm being taught), and all the other stuff they might teach would be stuff I wouldn't want to learn.
I could've done a multimedia course this year, but chose not to.

That is so cool, I love his stupid expression on his face, he's so happy. XD I like how you have almost every part of his body moving, right down to his feet tilting as the touch the ground. CHOCOBO! And the reflection in the water is a nice touch.

I was going to make it say 'kweh' with the sound effects from the game when you clicked it or something, but I couldn't find that sound effect anywhere on the internet! (I searched ALL THE PAGES ON TEH INTERNETS thoroughly of course...)
So that was annoying.
And heh, all my chocobos have silly expressions on their faces. I think it makes them look more amusing and cute.
(Also, I wonder if anyone figured out that you can change the colour of the chocobo by clicking it...?)

It took a couple of hours to make, working on it on and off. So not too long.
I was going to give it a running animation too, but sort of got bored of it after those two hours...

It's not the animation that takes time, though! When I say it took two hours, most of that time was spent drawing the different 'limbs' and things. Doing the walking animation only took like five minutes.
Even so, though, I find animating tedious and annoying.
Which is why, even though I can use Flash extremely well, I've never made an actual 'movie' thing yet!

Some people like animating long movies, I imagine, so to them it wouldn't be tedious and they'd finish it relatively quickly. If they were enjoying it.
I don't like animating though, so I imagine it'd take me aaages to make anything of any length at all!
Heh, chocobos *do* have beaks, but in FFIX - which I thought chocobos looked best in - they only have a sort of orange tint for a beak rather than a defined beak like some of the other variants. Like in [this image!]
I added a sort of orange tint to mine's beak, but it's not all that noticeable, really.
It is on the other colours, though, which you can see by clicking the chocobo!

Yes people who love animations probably wouldn't see it as tedious or boring... but then again I'm not an animation maker, so I can't really judge.
