Decided I'd ask a few men playing chess if I could take pictures of them... Didn't get an answer from them, but the guy standing near them said"It's ok, they are nice guys"

Same thing with the tilt on this one. Many times, the tilt is a great artistic tool. But at such a small angle, it looks to me as more of a composition issue. One that can be fixed during postprocessing.
I love the topic and the tones throughout the entire image. Especially the hint of the onlooker on the other side of the table.
OK, scratch my first comments about the tilt. The more I look at this image, the more it works. Especially with the player on the left leaning, arms folded, on the table and with the captured pieces lined up.

I had a choice between too pictures, I didn't want to distrub them anymore then I had too... THe cigar is what made this one the choice for DA.
