Description Another sample page from our children's book that was published back in December. It is titled "Lemon Trees and Bumblebees"; it was published as an ebook by Pelican Publishing out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Here we see a bumble bee mom gathering food (pollen and nectar) from lemon flowers to bring back to her cute hungry babies (larvae). The weird pots with shiney liquid are honey pots, which the queen bumble bee uses to feed herself while she forages and incubates her eggs. Hope you like this growing bumblebee family.

cheers,

Blair

I think it's wonderful. I love bees, and I'm doing a project with honey bees and bumble bees (turning them into a dragon)...I just have troubles with the bumblebees since they are so different than their honey making cousin.

Is that one little one about to mature, the bottom one on the top row?

How to make larvea look adorable, by Psithyrus. Really, HOW do you do that?! This is so adorable! I do like bees, at least honeybees, not those nasty "killer" bees. Actually the bumblebee is my favorite, due to its friendly nature, they are quite tolerant little guys. I remember as a child attempting to cup them in my hand, never got stung. They would just buzz around and fly off as if to say "Do you mind?! I'm trying to collect pollen here! Go away!" LOL

Blair, with his artistic gift, was such a joy to study and work with as I wrote this book. Please visit www.thereadingroad.com to read my Nov., 2011 blog, β€œCrossing the Bridge.” Here’s where I talk about the inspiration for the book, how I met Blair, and show more of his gorgeous illustrations from the story. LEMON TREES AND BUMBLEBEES, The Magic of Pollination, is available in Apple iBooks on the iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, NookColor, and others. We’d love to have your comments on the website, or a review on the Apple iBooks download page.
