Hehehe X3 This picture was jolted into existence by the profound need to draw some giftart! \(^.^)/
It was pretty much inspired by 'The Lost' fanfic saga she wrote. The very special relationship Sideswipe and Sunstreaker have just tugs at my panda heartstrings. For the image, I just made this scene up based on what I remember about their characters (might not be very accurate though XP). This happens just before they go out on an attack against the Decepticons.
They're not really big on public displays of affection and brotherhood. So, when no one's around, a hand on the shoulder and a look in the optics is all that's needed to communicate... reassurance...
onna side note... I like the thought of Sunny being the 'older brother'... It's probably why I added that slight look of worry/concern on his face.

I'm rather pleased with how their faces turned out
(references attained from Google and 10fingers) And WOW... Look at that robot hand. I drew a robot hand that actually LOOKS right +preens unabashed+If the image looks a bit dark on your monitors, my apologies. I worked on 2 computers for this image and their screens weren't calibrated the same. There's also no need for you to crit this pic. Cos I don't really feel like hearing about all the perspective and lighting inaccuracies. It'll just spoil the magic...

I had to fave this for the life in Sideswipe's optics. I don't know why they work, but they do. Astonishingly blue lenses faintly lit from behind by a real personality. Nicely done.
Interesting that Sunny's referred to as the "older" twin. He very well may be in some sense. Regardless of age, though, I think that Sideswipe is the _dominant_ twin. He seems to be more comfortable in his plating than Sunstreaker is. Sunny is perpetually aware of his image, having to make sure everyone notices just how beautiful he is. That speaks of a certain insecurity, a need to be propped up by outside forces. Sideswipe doesn't seem to share that insecurity--he's a merry prankster, a good-natured daredevil with the confidence to lead his brother into all kinds of trouble. I think that Sideswipe is the psychologically stronger of the pair--if the worst happened and Sunstreaker died in the war, Sideswipe could learn to cope. I don't think Sunstreaker could, were their positions reversed. Sunstreaker follows his brother's lead, and relies on Sideswipe to make friends for the both of them. Sunstreaker is hard to put up with at times, with his ego problem and his capacity for violence. I think he knows on some level that without his twin, he'd have to learn to adapt or face the rest of his life being "alone in a crowded room". Sideswipe is probably aware of how he runs interference for Sunstreaker, but he might not have thought about just how much Sunstreaker depends on him for balance. It's a layered relationship unique among Autobots--and I could spend a lot more time speculating on its parameters, but it would probably be better if I just stopped here and went to bed.

Their expressions are what make this, for me at least... especially Sunstreaker's. There's so much unspoken affection and worry for Sideswipe there. This is definitely a must-favourite.

you have a real talent when i comes to drawing robots. you've managed to make them feel so human (which is hard to do with a lump of metal) and the colourings just so smooth.

I just caught this at 'Horsie's page... what a great portrayal of those two characters in that particular fic. The line art is just gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous...
What I absolutely adore? The expressions. As Starhorse mentioned, the expressiveness of this picture is absolutely fantastic. I love the curve of Sideswipe's slightly open mouth, like he's about to crack a joke or laugh off something, and Sunstreaker's dour concern. Love the angle of both characters, and that hand articulation is to die for...

Faved it over at *autobotcity , will fave it here. Excellent work. I especially like the facial expressions of the brothers. Sunstreaker to macho to tell is bro' he cares about him and Sideswipe knowing exactly what the gesture means. Priceless.

Dude, this is awesome. I love the looks on their faces. That's the cool thing about your art, is the expressiveness. It's not just Big Kewl Robot Time, but an actual moment that tells a story, which is a style I just adore. It's interesting that Siders isn't looking at Sunstreaker, since I can imagine Sunny wouldn't show that look of concern if he were. It's almost like you caught a 'hidden' moment from Sunstreaker, one that most people would never see. They don't outwardly show their concern for each other very often, so this is a nice 'snapshot'.
And that robot hand! Darn you! Why can I not draw robot hands?! 
Oh, and I do tend to think of Sunstreaker as the 'elder' of the twins, but by about a millisecond. If you want to get technical, I figure that when the spark was created, it was Sunstreaker's spark for about a fraction of a second, before the split happened, and Sideswipe was created. But that's just my take on things, which I'm spinning off of Dreamwave's version of events.

well there's no concrete evidence that Sunstreaker is the older brother... infact, since they're twins and all, maybe they're both the same age...
some tend to think Sunny's older because he tends to be a little more mature than Sideswipe.. on the other hand, there are those who think Sides is older...
