A tombstone stolen from the waking world. Pickman has come down a LONG way from being human...

Pickman had been an artist who lived and worked in Boston, renting sordid rooms in a very bad part of the city. Most people shunned him because of his appalling & morbid fixation on ghouls. His paintings implied that most graveyards had been strip-mined by these creatures, and that whenever a departed loved one is interred, the ghouls take note and gather to pull the body out of its coffin and eat it.
The narrator had no more to do with Pickman after he saw that photograph of a ghoul that Pickman was using as a model ! The title of the short story was "PICKMAN'S MODEL". Pickman disappeared not long after the narrator dropped him.
"Dream Quest" said that Pickman had moved to the Dreamworld and assisted Carter in his quest for Kadath.
