Kinuko here is a baby I created for the event over at #Children-of-Mau , a club dedicated to all the lovely kitty babies of the internet! She’s from my Paths Diverge universe and her parents are Tin Nyanko and Pewter Fox! Yes, I know that pairing is odd, but hear me out.

In Kinuko's world, Nyanko was the senshi of her home-world like in the anime. Galaxia corrupted her and the Animamates either with promises of dreams fulfilled or outright brainwashing. Nyanko had both; the girl wanted to see the beautiful Moon Kingdom that she had heard so much about but as the guardian of her planet could never visit. Galaxia also added more than a bit of her own corrupted power to "persuade" Tiny Nyanko to join her.

You see, As well as controlling the Animamates, Galaxia's bracelets also worked as her means to twist the minds of the senshi. Galaxia further used the bracelets to force her minions to bond with one another in Animamate pairs. The Golden Queen's reasons for this were threefold: to eventually create a race of super-senshi, to keep the senshi in line by threatening their loved ones if needed, and for her own amusement.

In some cases, such as Aluminum Seiren and Lead Crow, all Galaxia had to do was intensify the feelings that the senshi already possessed. In Nyanko and Fox's case, she had to create them whole-cloth as the two senshi had never met and in fact came from warring planets--the two were on the brink of entering the battle when Galaxia arrived and forced an uneasy truce to fight her. Galaxia wanted Nyanko to either pair with Fox (a "dog" to Nyanko's cat) or Iron Mouse for the sheer thrill of pairing two very different races together; whether or not a still-pure part of her hoped to reconcile the two warring planets or a more-sinister part of her hoped to watch the two love/hate each other, none can say.

Regardless of her reasons, Nyanko and Fox grew artificially closer. Galaxia didn't force her matches to mate--in fact she let them do as they pleased as long as they remained bonded--but Nyanko and Fox, both being very passionate people, eventually went that far. Even understanding on some level that they were being manipulated, they began to love each other for real.

When Fox learned that Nyanko had almost been cured by SailorMoon and then had been killed by Galaxia, her heart broke. The two rarely got to see each other (as Fox was leader of the Animamates and had to constantly check in on them and Nyanko was one of Galaxia's chosen field soldiers) so she didn't even get to say goodbye. Although she remained loyal to Galaxia due to the bracelets, her bitterness grew and she pushed the Animamates to work harder as Galaxia promised to resurrect Tin Nyanko as a "reward" for Fox if their mission succeeded.

However, eventually all of the Animamates fell to SailorMoon, including Fox. Fox's last moments were purified by SailorMoon's attack, and she wished with all her might that she might see Nyanko in the afterlife. Her own dream that Galaxia twisted was peace for her people, and Nyanko had shown her that maybe it was possible. Fox had grown to truly love the cat senshi.

Luckily for her, SailorMoon is HBiC, and so she and Nyanko were reborn on their planets after SailorMoon made it back from the Galaxy Cauldron. The two grew up in a peaceful time of rebuilding where both of their planets had more to do than fight. Although the two races still have prejudices, they get along fairly well by the time that SailorMoon ascends the throne as Neo Queen Serenity.

Therefore, Fox and Nyanko are able to meet and fall in love again normally this time, having forgotten all about their pasts when they were reborn. (Although the manga implies that everyone is brought back to life at their previous ages, I'm going with the idea that SailorMoon only had enough power to bring her own team back as teenagers and the rest of the senshi that were killed were reborn as infants.) They eventually marry and have Kinuko, which further solidifies their planets' truce.

Kinuko is not Sailor Mau due to the fact that she’s mixed, and so Mau’s starseed will eventually go on to her distant cousin Diana. Instead, Kinuko is Sailor Mau Wan, taking on the powers of both of her mothers’ as in normal in my Paths Diverge universe. (If you don’t remember, two senshi of roughly equal power can have children who possess one or the other starseed of their parents or a combination of both BUT if they have a combination, the “pure” versions of their parents’ starseeds go on to other children.) As Mau Wan, Kinuko is a vicious fighter, but is also fair. If you yield, she’ll show you mercy. Just don’t keep at it since she has the cunning of a cat and the tenacity of a dog.

As a person, Kinuko is a good leader like her mother Ginko Kitsune truly is, but has trouble delegating to anyone under her. She’d rather do it all and get it right than be forced to reprimand anyone under her. She’s also a very “cute” kind of person who enjoys bells and frilly things due to her mama’s influence. Ginko just sighs and warns that someday her two ladies will bury her in Lolita clothes. :3 Kinuko’s greatest honor is when she’s invited to the Moon on a diplomatic mission as a representative of both of her planets.

Kinuko’s design is based on fennec foxes and Scottish Fold cats. I suppose it makes more sense for her to look more like her parents, and she does, but her personal taste tends to run more big and fluffy. Her “fennec fox ears” bow is so big that it folds down like a Scottish Fold’s ears. Her bangs are a combination of her parents and her hair is a dark silver-blond. Her eyes are dark gold, and her favorite colors are black and white. Kinuko’s hobbies include casual Lolita, shopping, and sleeping—like, all the time. :3
